History and Drafting of Hose By: Adelheid Holtzhauer Introduction Leg coverings of some sort have been worn throughout history by both men and women. For the purposes of this class, the hose we will be looking at are fitted, closed footed and made of woven fabric. There are many garments called Hose and Hosen worn throughout history. Extant examples have been found dating back to the 2nd century such as the footed hose found a Martres-de- Veyre. Image 1: Womens woollen twill hose excavated at Martres-de-Veyre Although there are many different garments that could be referred to as hose, in this class we will be focusing on "Single Hose" and "Attached Hose". Single hose cover one leg and can vary in length/height. Attached hose are essentially tight fitted trews. Over the course of time, single hose went from knee length and gartered with trim, to full fitted "pants" to thigh high and attached with to a belt at the waist, to detached and gartered under the knee to the full legging style common in the late 161h century. Image 2 shows a pair of attached hose which are carbon dated to 1355 AD and were found in the Damendorf Bog. UNIWERSYTET HUMANISTYCZNO-PRZYRODNICZY IM. JANA DŁUGOSZA W CZĘSTOCHOWIE Studia Neofilologiczne 2020, z. XVI, s. 151–170 http://dx.doi.org/10.16926/sn.2020.16.08 Dana SERDITOVA https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1206-8507 (University of Heidelberg) AUSTRALIAN FOOD SLANG Abstract The article analyzes Australian food slang. The first part of the research deals with the definition and etymology of the word ‘slang’, the purpose of slang and its main characteristics, as well as the history of Australian slang. In the second part, an Australian food slang classification consisting of five categories is provided: -ie/-y/-o and other abbreviations, words that underwent phonetic change, words with new meaning, Australian rhyming slang, and words of Australian origin. The definitions of each word and examples from the corpora and various dictionaries are provided. The paper also dwells on such particular cases as regional varieties of the word ‘sausage’ (including the map of sausages) and drinking slang. Keywords: Australian food slang, Australian English, varieties of English, linguistic and culture studies. Australian slang is a vivid and picturesque part of an extremely fascinating variety of English. Just like Australian English in general, the slang Down Under is influenced by both British and American varieties. Australian slang started as a criminal language, it moved to Australia together with the British convicts. Naturally, the attitude towards slang was negative – those who were not part of the criminal culture tried to exclude slang words from their vocabulary. First and foremost, it had this label of criminality and offense. This attitude only changed after the World War I, when the soldiers created their own slang, parts of which ended up among the general public.

  • MS Dress Code 2021-2022
Webb School of Knoxville Code of Dress & Appearance Middle School, 2021-2022 The Webb Middle School uniform allows students to dress neatly and comfortably for the activities in which they engage during a normal school day. All students are expected to be in school uniform every day. We hope the student uniform will help diminish the sartorial competition and peer pressure that is frequent among younger adolescents. Webb’s Middle School is a place where students should be confident that they are accepted for their character and personality, not for what they wear. Special Update for 2021-2022: The formerly instituted formal dress uniform requirement for Middle School is suspended for this school year. Please see below for this year’s Code of Dress & Appearance. All uniform shirts must be purchased from the following providers: Educational Outfitters <http://knoxville.educationaloutfitters.com/find-my-school/webb-school-of-knoxville/> Tommy Hilfiger <http://www.globalschoolwear.com> Lands’ End <https://www.landsend.com/shop/school/S-ytp-xe8?cm_re=lec-_-global-_-glbnv-school-_- 20160525-_-txt> Shirts, pants, skorts, skirts, and shorts also must be purchased from Educational Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger, or Lands' End. Approved items are located on the Hilfiger site under the Middle School menu; Educational Outfitters has a list of all approved Middle School uniform items. When purchasing uniform items, please consider that your child will probably grow during the school year. This is especially important for eighth graders, who sometimes have to purchase new clothing to meet the dress code with only a few months remaining in the Middle School.

Potions are all essentially the same, scrolls don’t really have much interest Outerwear 6 other than what spell they contain, you’ve got a few interesting things that aren’t weapons or armor, but that’s about it. Most of those will either break a game because of their power, or Headwear 12 they should require a massive quest of campaign-level, world- spanning heroics to obtain. There just aren’t a lot of items that everyday adventurers want, Footwear 14 that won’t break the bank so to speak, and are things that are actually useful. Everybody wears clothes (I don’t want to think about nude D&D), and everybody loves magic items for their Accessories 16 character.. Combining the two seemed like a good idea, but I didn’t want Special Orders 20 to go with just pants, shirts, etc. I scoured the internet for medieval period clothing, and narrowed down a list of items that were common across a wide range of times and places throughout Europe during the Middle Ages. Now, I did come Glossary 22 across some interesting clothing items that fell outside that range or geography, and a few are included here. None of the items presented here are gender specific. I intentionally left any mention of that out of each item.

  • Electronic Press Kit
Electronic Press Kit No Adjustment Needed: The Tommy John Story A history of the company that reinvented men’s undergarments In 2008, Thomas John Patterson, a medical device salesman from South Dakota, was fed up with how uncomfortable and non-functional all his undergarments were. His undershirts would stretch out, shrink, untuck, yellow and pill. Though he had no experience in clothing design or manufacturing, Patterson decided the market demanded a better option so he set out to give men the undershirt they deserve. Investigating this new territory of fashion, Patterson hit the streets and department stores asking regular guys, as well as clothing specialists, to share their thoughts about undershirts. He studied all the top brands, turning dozens of shirts inside out, measuring proportions and testing fabric blends to develop the perfect combination of fit, fabric, and function. The result was the reinvention of men’s undergarments. In 2009, Tommy John launched The Second Skin Collection, an innovative line of men’s undershirts and underwear. The unique stretch fabric and form-fitting design ensures their US patented undershirt never rides up, bunches, and stays tucked in. By redefining the basics of men’s wardrobes, Tommy John seeks to provide men with innovative solutions to age-old apparel problems. Determined to see his dream become a reality, Tom cold-called Neiman Marcus and sent appropriate sizes to the buyer, her husband and several other men in the department. When Tom called to follow up, the buyer had already received requests from those who received samples for more, which prompted her to launch Tommy John into 15 locations.
