The acquisition of 100 percent of Balmain from shareholders including France’s Hivelin family will allow the brand to accelerate its development by opening new stores around the world, advisers Bucephale Finance said in a statement late Tuesday. Balmain has become one of the most talked about fashion brands under creative director Olivier Rousteing, whose Instagram account is peppered with images of reality-television star Kardashian and her family wearing his military-inspired designs. The fashion house, founded by Pierre Balmain in 1945 and revived in 1995 by Alain Hivelin, has enjoyed strong growth since Rousteing joined in 2011, according to the statement. Mayhoola, which describes itself as a Qatari company focused on local and global investments, also owns Valentino, which is considering selling shares in an initial public offering as early as next year after nearly doubling profit on revenue of more than $1 billion in 2015. Mayhoola didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The acquisition of Balmain is the second fashion deal this week by Middle Eastern investors after Bahrain investment house Investcorp Bank BSC purchased 55 percent of Italian luxury menswear maker Corneliani SpA.

The sale will also fund the expansion of Balmain’s accessories business. “After completing this transaction, Mayhoola for Investments will hold 100 percent of Balmain’s capital,” the statement added. The terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. Balmain’s shareholders included Jean-François Dehecq, the co-founder of the French pharmaceuticals company Sanofi, and the family of the former Balmain chief executive and controlling shareholder Alain Hivelin, who died in 2014 at the age of 71. Balmain has been injected with new fervor under the leadership of its 30-year-old creative director, Olivier Rousteing, whose signature look — leather jackets, tight bandage dresses and lashings of gold, satin and sparkle — has endeared him to film and reality television stars. The business field of the company is fashion clothing and retailing. Design/methodology/approach: Qualitative research was employed through content research methods and case study method. The study is desktop research using ex- isted content as researching material. Findings – This report analyzed the marketing strategies that the company H&M used in two chosen social media channels Facebook and Instagram. The study finds that H&M Facebook page has more number of people who follow and like the page. Instagram has less the number of followers, but it is the channel that has better user’s integration than Facebook. Posts from Instagram receive more interactions in forms of likes and comments on these posts than those from Facebook. Research limitations / implications: The report’s analyzed data are mostly taken from secondary data. The implications of the report can be applied in similar busi- ness forms using social media as a method marketing strategy. Mayhoola, which means “unknown” in the Qatari dialect of Arabic, is widely believed to be a vehicle for Sheikha Moza bint Nasser as-Missned, the mother of the Qatari emir, Sheikh Tamim. In 2011, the secretive fund bought Valentino, the Roman haute couture house, from private equity firm Permira, for about €700m. A person with knowledge of the Balmain talks but who was not directly involved said that Mayhoola’s plan was to combine the two brands under one umbrella and eventually list the group. CGP’s holiday analysis tracks all Census Bureau retail categories except for autos, gasoline/ oil and restaurants. Industrial-strength promoting, weather conditions conducive to getting out and shopping, and the late Hanukkah, which began Sunday night, would have also factored into the results.

These three retailers are the Spanish Zara, Swedish H&M and Japanese UNIQLO. To do this, firstly the history of each of the brands is briefly introduced, followed by the companies’ philosophy (mission, vision and values) and financial situation are mentioned. Then, the business model and the marketing mix strategy of the three brands are analyzed. Once all the information is discussed, all the aspects mentioned before are compared for the three retailers. Finally, several conclusions are drawn from the report.
