These two versions are similar to Kyuss - Welcome To Sky Valley but with a different Distribution Code (EW 835 instead of WE 833). As opposed to the US version of the album which contains ten songs mixed on three CD tracks, the European pressings have separated all ten songs which are allocated to ten individual CD tracks. This research does not require an explicit spiritual component (or just one covered with a mountain of irony and marijuana, as in Sleep's Holy Mountain!!!), but it hides an implicit spirituality because of the psychedelic power of exhausting slowdown, and the deafen heaviness of the massive distortions. In stoner rock music the primordial energy is the sound itself. Josh Homme swollen, loaded and overflowing guitar sound, as much as the liquid groovy rhytmic session by Brant Bjork and Scott Reeder, is the medium to trip into the Sky Valley: one of the best spiritual voyage of the 90s. Sein musikalisches Wirken als Genre-Gründer mit den wegbereitenden Kyuss spricht für sich, auch die Nachfolger Vista Chino, Unida, Slo Burn und Hermano haben seinen Ruf als Ausnahmesänger weiter gefestigt. Dabei ist John Garcia wirklich ein waschechter Wüstensohn: 1970 in Arizona geboren, wuchs er mit seiner allein erziehenden Mutter und zwei Geschwistern rund um Palm Springs/Kalifornien auf. Dort gründete der Doors- und Misfits-Fan Anfang der Neunziger mit Gitarrist Josh Homme (später Queens Of The Stone Age) die Band Kyuss. Mit vier Alben (u.a. der Genre-Meilenstein „Welcome To Sky Valley“, 1994) wurden sie eine der einflussreichsten Stoner Rock-Formationen. Nach dem Ende 1995 versuchte er sich an Projekten wie Slo Burn, Unida oder Hermano, stets unterstützt von einem Umfeld, das in der Alternative Rock-Szene seinesgleichen sucht. 2010 entstand aufgrund großer Nachfrage das Unternehmen ‚Garcia plays Kyuss‘, mit dem er als einziges Originalmitglied tourte.

If the 1980s had been the golden age of heavy metal, the age when heavy metal was accepted by the masses and climbed the charts, the 1990s saw the fragmentation of the genre into rather different styles, that simply expanded on ideas of the 1980s. As usual, pop-metal, the genre that appealed to the masses, was, artistically speaking, the least significant variant of heavy metal. It spawned stars such as Los Angeles' Warrant, with Cherry Pie (1990); Boston's Extreme, who specialized in "metal-operas" a` la Queen such as Pornograffiti (1990); and Pennsylvania's Live, with Throwing Copper (1994); etc. Los Angeles had to live with remnants of its "street-scene" (Guns N' Roses, Jane's Addiction), although they sounded a lot less sincere and a lot less powerful than the original masters: Ugly Kid Joe, Life Sex And Death, Dishwalla, Ednaswap, etc. Glam-metal staged a comeback of sorts in Florida with Marilyn Manson (1), the product of Brian Warner's deranged mind.

They’re not all great, because in the Polish imprint’s quest to mine the back catalogs of the likes of Nuclear Blast and Roadrunner there are duds a-plenty, but in the case of Mountain Mama’s , the triple CD box set combining West Virginian recently-reunited, mostly-instrumental riff-mongers Karma to Burn ’s three full-lengths — Karma to Burn (1997), Wild Wonderful Purgatory (1999) and Almost Heathen (2002) — they nailed it. I’d liken it to the box treatment Warner International gave to Kyuss ‘ Blues for the Red Sun , Welcome to Sky Valley and …And the Circus Leaves Town in 2000, but where that was essentially the three albums wrapped in cardboard, Metal Mind gives us these remastered three Karma to Burn discs in a custom digipak with striking artwork by Elizabeth Duebell biting the head off the Wild Wonderful Purgatory cover; redder and without the lady patriot. Hard to lose when you’ve got a Satanic goat dressed in Native American garb riding a horse carring the West Virginia state flag.

Jag har gjort djupintervjuer med elever för att få veta hur de ser på sin situation i matsalen och vad de tycker om olika saker, som miljön och stämningen i matsalen, maten som serveras, och vilket inflytande de tycker de har på samma saker. Jag har även intervjuat husmor på skolan där eleverna går, om till exempel praktiska problem som rör maten som serveras, och miljön i och i kring matsalen, samt hur personalen löst dem. Jag har också gjort en mätundersökning av självserveringsbrickan och porslinet i skolrestaurangen för att se om brickan är lagom stor att bära det som ska vara på den. Jag har även läst diverse litteratur som behandlar ämnet, från det att barnbespisningsverksamheten började i mitten av 1940-talet, fram till idag. Resultatet av intervjuerna med eleverna pekar mot att de är mycket medvetna om vad som händer och sker i och i samband med matsalen, men att de inte tycker sig ha någon medbestämmanderätt där över huvud taget.
