How Tokyo's Subways Inspired the Paris
Feature Evolution of Urban Railways How Tokyo’s Subways Inspired the Paris RER (Interconnection with SNCF Suburban Lines) Louis Sato and Philippe Essig Introduction Original Master Plan in 1965 for RER A and Sceaux Line Extended to Châtelet (Les Halles) Station Each time a new idea prevails, the initial Cergy Pontoise Valmondois difficulties are forgotten fairly quickly. In (Second north–south axis) le Bourget Montesson (First north–south axis) town planning and transportation, it is always difficult to design and execute a Saint-Germain RER A project that alters long-established la Defense practices. However, during the last 30 Etoile Auber Châtelet Fontenay years, many metropolises worldwide Bry-sur-Marne Nation RER A Luxembourg Noisy-le-Grand have seen revolutions in the fields of Gare de Lagny Meaux transportation and urban traffic. Lyon This article recalls the situation 30 years Trappes (Second north–south axis) ago when a study of the Tokyo subway guided the design of the central station of Robinson Evry the Paris RER. (First north–south axis) Boissy St-Leger Paris Urban Network (Sceaux Line) in Early 70s In 1970, the Paris urban railway network was based on principles dating back to the 1972 New RER Concept turn of the century when the Paris metro was built. Commuter trains of French Ville Nouvelle National Railways (SNCF) terminated de Cergy Pontoise at the Paris stations of Saint-Lazare, Orry-la-Ville Aeroport Montparnasse, Austerlitz, Lyon, Est and Roissy CDG Nord and there was no line crossing Paris. The same situation applied to the Régie RER D Mitry-Claye Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) Sceaux commuter line serving the southern suburbs, which stopped at Luxembourg RER B Poissy RER A Station. -
Consortium Led by VINCI Construction, Together with Spie
Paris, 20 February 2018 Press release Consortium led by VINCI Construction, together with Spie batignolles, wins a new contract on the metro Line 14 South as part of the future Grand Paris Express rapid transit system • 4.6 km of tunnel to be excavated using a tunnel boring machine • Construction of the new Kremlin Bicêtre Hôpital station • Contract value: almost €400 million (excluding tax) The consortium led by VINCI Construction (Dodin Campenon Bernard, lead company; VINCI Construction France; VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Botte Fondations), together with Spie batignolles (Spie batignolles Génie Civil and Spie batignolles Fondations), has been awarded a major contract as part of the Grand Paris Express programme. The RATP1 has selected this consortium to execute works package GC02 of the future Line 14 South between Olympiades (in the 13th arrondissement of Paris) and Orly Airport. The contract, worth almost €400 million (excluding tax), requires the use of an earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine to excavate a 4.6 km tunnel between Maison Blanche Paris XIII futur station and the TBM starting shaft at Jean Prouvé. It also includes construction of the new Kremlin Bicêtre Hôpital station and five ventilation and emergency shafts. The contract is scheduled to last 72 months. A large-scale project in an urban environment The GC02 works package site cuts through Paris, Kremlin Bicêtre, Gentilly, Villejuif and L’Haÿ-les-Roses. It also passes near Kremlin Bicêtre Hospital and the A6 motorway. Integrating the worksite into this environment is a major challenge that has led to numerous consultation meetings being held between the RATP, the Société du Grand Paris (SGP) and all the cities, local authorities and residents involved. -

Aéroports De Paris a Proposal to Promote the Competitiveness of the Air Transport Sector to the Benefit of Passengers, Local Areas and Employment
Aéroports de Paris A proposal to promote the competitiveness of the air transport sector to the benefit of passengers, local areas and employment The principal measures in the 2016-2020 Economic Regulation Agreement proposal ©Jouanneaux, ADP - 1 - Augustin de Romanet Chairman and CEO of Aéroports de Paris The air transport industry is one of the principal drivers of international growth and one of the French economy’s greatest assets. It contributes in a decisive way to the country’s attractiveness and competitiveness. Everything must therefore be done to strengthen this industry, which is facing competition and new passenger demands, and to transform its growth into new business and new jobs for the Paris region. Aéroports de Paris will play its full part in this endeavour. The industry is growing and creating new jobs, but the changes underway are intensifying competition among airlines, and among major cities and their airports to capture global growth. Airports can no longer be considered as protected players. Against this background, the 2016-2020 Economic Regulation Agreement that we put forward here takes on a new dimension: that of a tool to win market share and create value for the entire industry. We have drawn on all of the levers we have at our disposal to ensure the consistency, effectiveness and fairness of this proposal. The investment programme has been carefully tailored to the requirements in terms of capacity, safety and quality. The pricing structure project has undergone in-depth changes and will foster the development of international and connecting traffic. The productivity effort Aéroports de Paris is ready to deploy is unprecedented.
