The menu will be a BBQ buffet and dessert. It will set the scene for a great summer with your fellow students. TIME 18:00 – 21:30 LOCATION Ovnhallen, Porcelænshaven 24, 2000 Frederiksberg DIRECTIONS Our CBS Summer Crew will bring you to the location following the Welcome Meeting. REMINDERS Beverages can be purchased at reasonable prices. 5 Saturday WELCOME 23 June PARTY This will be the first party of the summer and we will kick it off in true Copenhagen style. We have booked one a venue in Copenhagen, the nightclub Drunken Flamingo! We will have a big outdoor area to ourselves for first 2 hours. There will be free entrance and deals at the bar. TIME 22:00 – ?? LOCATION Gammeltorv 14, 1457 København K DIRECTIONS We have hired shuttlebusses going from the “Welcome Dinner” to Drunken Flamingo REMINDERS Please bring picture-Id. 7 Sunday COPENHAGEN- 24 June SIGHTSEEING This guided walking tour will introduce you to all the hot spots in the city. You will be shown everything from cozy bars to cultural sights. On the tour you will get admission to Rundetårn (the Round Tower), which is Europe’s oldest functioning astronomy observatory. At the top you will have a unique view over the city. You will be split into groups and each group will be accompanied by a couple of ISUP Summer Crew’ers, who will be your tour guides. TIME 13:00 – 15:45 LOCATION Kgs. Nytorv Station (upstairs) DIRECTIONS Take the Metro to Kgs. Nytorv Station. REMINDERS Please bring your camera and wear comfortable walking shoes. 9 Sunday CANAL TOUR 24 June After the sightseeing tour, you will get to experience the city from the waterfront. This one-hour guided canal tour will take you through all parts of the old city and pass many of the most famous sights, such as Christianshavn, the Opera House, and of course the world-renowned statue of the Little Mermaid. TIME 15:45 – 17:00 LOCATION DFDS Canal Tours, Ved Strand 26, 1202 København K. DIRECTIONS Take the metro to Kgs. Nytorv Station. Make a right onto Vingårdstræde (250 meters). Continue straight onto Fortunstræde (100 meters) until you reach Gl. Strand. REMINDERS Please bring your camera and wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes to suitthe weather. 11 Wednesday BIG BOWL 27 June NIGHT Let the good times roll! An amazing bowling night has been arranged for you at Big Bowl Valby. The night will start out with three hours of “disco bowling” with attractive prizes. Hereafter, the night continues in Big Bowl’s night club. Both the bowling alley and the night club are exclusively reserved for the ISUP Social Package participants. TIME 19:45 - 22:00 LOCATION Big Bowl, Gl. Jernbanevej 31, 2500 Valby DIRECTIONS Take the S-Tog to Valby Station. Walk straight onto Mellemtoftevej (85 meters). Take a left onto Toftegårds Allé (50 meters). Take a right onto Gl. Jernbanevej (150 meters) until you reach Big Bowl on your right. REMINDERS When you arrive, you will receive a number indicating at which lane you will be bowling, so if you would like to bowl you must be on time. 13 Saturday HISTORIC DAY TRIP 30 June On this day trip you will get a glimpse into both the historical and the prehistorical Denmark. The trip will begin in the city of Roskilde where we will visit the Viking Ship Museum. From 800-1050 AD Denmark was the heartland of the viking society. Viking raids left from Denmark and fleets of Danish viking ships attacked and plundered towns, churches and monasteries throughout Western Europe and sailed as far away as Constantinople. In the museum you will get to experience life as it was lived in the Viking Age. The trip continues to the Cliffs of Møn, one of Denmark’s most beautiful natural sights. The Cliffs were formed during the last ice age, where large ice tongues uncovered a layer of chalk, formed by the sea that covered Denmark millions of years ago. Micro-organisms settled in the prehistoric seabed and were compressed to what is known today as chalk. If you are lucky, you may find octopus, sea urchin and mussel fossils hidden in chalk or on the beach. TIME 08:30 - 19:00 LOCATION The parking lot, Dalgas Have 15, 2000 Frederiksberg DIRECTIONS Take the metro to Lindevang Station. Make a right onto the parking lot behind Dalgas Have (50 meters). REMINDERS Please bring your own lunch and clothes to suit the weather. 15 Tuesday DANISH FOLK 3 July DANCING Year after year, Danish Folk Dancing is the event which gets the best feedback. Most of the dances are from around 1780-1880, and were originally danced by farmers and poor people. The dances will be danced at a level so that everyone can participate. A professional folk dancing group will teach you the steps accompanied by a live orchestra. This is not to be missed! TIME 19:15 – 22:00 LOCATION Ovnhallen, Porcelænshaven 24, 2000 Frederiksberg DIRECTIONS Take the metro to Fasanvej Station. Make a left onto Nordre Fasanvej (400 meters) until you reach Porcelænshaven on your left. REMINDERS Please bring comfortable shoes. Beverages can be purchased at very reasonable prices. Please bring cash. 17 Thursday 5 GAMES- & July BAR NIGHT At this event you will have the opportunity to meet, connect and share a drink with your fellow ISUP students at the bar Grock. Grock is located at Frederiksberg just around the corner from CBS. Grock is renowned for its large garden bar and its cozy atmosphere. A DJ will be playing all night. The bar is exclu- sively reserved for the ISUP Social Package participants. TIME 18 - 22 / 22:00 - 03:00 LOCATION Ovnhallen / Grock, Allégade 11, 2000 Frederiksberg DIRECTIONS Take the metro to Frederiksberg Station. Make a right onto Falkoner Allé (600 meters) until you reach Grock on your right. REMINDERS There will be free admission from 22:00 until 24:00 and happy hours from 22:00 until 24:00 (half price on everything in the bar). Please bring picture-id. 19 Wednesday Wednesday WOLRD CUP 7 COMEDY NIGHT 12 July July This will be a chance to watch the Word Cup Quater Finals This will be a night of laughter. Stand-up comedian Joe Eagan at one of the most popular sports bars in Copenhagen. We from Canada have brought five of his international friends will have a specific area reserved for ISUP Social Program from the comedy scene, and they have created an amazing participants at the “Den Glade Gris” show. They will use humor to give you a better understanding of the “Crazy Danes”. This show is exclusively prepared for the Exchange Social Program. The event will take place at one of the most popular night clubs in Copenhagen, Butchers. Butchers is located on Vesergade on of the most vibrant streets in Copenhagen. There will be free entrance until midnight. TIME 22:00 - 03:00 LOCATION Butchers DIRECTIONS Take the metro to Forum Station. Make a right onto Rosenørns Allé (350 meters). Continue straight onto Gyldenløves- gade until you reach Søpavillonen on your left. REMINDERS There will be free admission from 22:00 until 24:00. Please bring picture-ID. 23 Friday MOVIE NIGHT 27 July This will be a relaxing evening with a great Danish movie with English subtitles. We will show the danish comedy called “Klovn”, which has sold more tickets in the cinema, than any other movie in Denmark in recent years. It’s dark, offensive and very danish. So be warned, it might seem weird, but it is all in good humor. We will provide popcorn and soda for the event, so start your friday night in a “hyggelig” way.     Ringbanen – en ny, tværgående bybane Ringbanen EN BANE PÅ TVÆRS MED NYE FORBINDELSER Ringbanen bliver en ny, tværgående linie på det storkøben- havnske S-banenet. Hér får passagererne mulighed for hurtigt og bekvemt at skifte til de andre S-togslinier, og der bliver gode omstigningsmuligheder til busser, regionaltog på Hellerup Station (Kystbanen) og Ny Ellebjerg Station (Øresundsbanen) samt Metroen på Flintholm Station. Ringbanen er på ca. 11,5 km. Den består dels af den hidtidige Ydre Bybane mellem Hellerup og Grøndal og dels af en nyan- lagt bane. Fra Vigerslev Allé og frem til Ny Ellebjerg Station bygges et nyt dobbeltspor på nordsiden af Øresundsbanen på en ca. to km lang strækning. BANEN ÅBNER I FIRE ETAPER Ringbanen bliver taget i brug i takt med, at Banestyrelsen bliver færdig med at bygge bane og stationer. Strækningen fra Helle- rup til en midlertidig station ved C.F. Richsvej tæt på Grøndal Station er allerede i drift. Strækningen frem til Flintholm Station åbner i december 2003, hvor den midlertidige station lukker. Strækningen mellem Flintholm og Danshøj Station åbner i sommeren 2004.

The Legacy of the Danish Resistance in World War II by Joy Ibsen Introduction When I first heard about this conference, I immediately thought of this topic, because I believe the Danish Resistance in World War II provides a legacy of critical importance. It is one which can be of help in guiding our way through today's murky social and political problems as we grapple with terrorist threats and moral issues confronting us in this new millennium. It is a story of special significance to all Danes and Danish-Americans. I have relied on several sources in developing this paper, and am especially indebted to an unpublished paper and interview with Immanuel Rodholm, my mother's cousin, who was born in Danevang, Texas, and who moved to Denmark as a young boy. Immanuel, or lb as he is called, has enjoyed a distinguished career.
