We will do blocking and dress rehearsal together from 1:30-5:00pm. Please send your dancer to the theater in their with hair and make-up ready. We will be practicing our dances and getting familiar with the theater as well as getting used to dancing away from the studio mirrors. 1:30-3:00 Jazz Company & Student Choreography only (no necessary) 3:00-5:05- Blocking and dress rehearsal

The dancers who are dancing from 3:00-5:05 need to come in costume. We will block and practice the dress rehearsal in your designated time slots. We will not need to run the show in its entirety (too long for the young ones). Once the dancers are done with their dance, they are free to go home.

Costumes, Hair and Make-up

Costumes are coming in daily. If you have not received your costume yet, I appreciate your patience - they will be here soon. Have your child try on their costume right away to make sure it is the right fit. Please refer to the costume reference sheet below.

Please do not allow your child to wear underpants during the performance. Though this may feel awkward, it will eliminate the embarrassment of panty lines and peek- through underwear being seen on the performers. Body liners under costumes are acceptable and recommended if you have many changes.

Your hair should be worn in a low ponytail. If your costume has specific accessories, your teacher will go over how to wear and use them during class time. Please make sure that hair accessories, headbands, hats, ribbons are bobby-pinned to your hair.

We encourage the dancers to wear make-up. The Bankhead stage is very big and with all the theater lights, your face will look washed out if you do not wear make-up. For the little ones, I suggest light pink blush and a very light lipstick. The kids usually enjoy this part of show business. If you would like more information on make-up or any other costume-related issues please contact the studio. Dancers need to remove all nail and toe polish and all jewelry for performances. Small stud earrings are acceptable.

Jazz Shoes and Tights Purchasing Information: Jazz shoes are generally tan unless otherwise instructed below. We recommend the slip on jazz shoe: Bloch Jazz Shoe Style #S0401 Most costumes require tan (caramel) tights unless otherwise instructed below. We recommend the Capezio Caramel Transition Style #1816 You can purchase these items at Encore Dance Supply in Pleasanton or order them online from Discount Dance Supply at www.discoutndancesupply.com. The Jazz Discount Dance Supply number/code is: #TP27963.

Food Food is allowed backstage, but PLEASE NO NUTS OF ANY KIND – we have dancers who are allergic. Also, NO SMOOTHIES are permitted backstage. Only clear liquids are allowed backstage. Please do not bring food that is messy (i.e. goldfish crackers are really messy when they get stepped on) or will stain. Also, all dancers are expected to clean up after themselves. BANKHEAD LOGISTICS

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES: Please bring your dancer to the back door of The Bankhead Theater. It is best to park in the parking garage and proceed to the check-in area. You will sign-in your dancer and our helpers will take them to their dressing room. If you need to accompany your dancer to the dressing room, you will have to sign-in and then sign-out. Parents may stay backstage no longer than 10 minutes. We highly advise you say goodbye to your dancer at the check-in table. They will be well-taken care of and the backstage area gets very crowded and chaotic with extra personnel.

If you need to come backstage for any reason, you MUST sign in. There are no exceptions. Every time any person enters or exits the Bankhead, they must sign in and out. There are no exceptions to this rule. If we do not have everyone accounted for, we risk losing our privilege of performing at the Bankhead in the future.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES: Please go to the same door where you dropped off your dancer to sign them out. Dancers must take all costumes and personal items home with them after dress rehearsal and again after the show.

Please be sure your dancer knows that they should come to the check out area as soon as they are ready. Our backstage helpers will be working quickly to help them gather their belongings and proceed to the check out area. We will not have enough helpers to “retrieve” dancers – we are asking parents to just wait in the check-out area until their dancer arrives in that area. Please be patient and know that we will do everything possible to get your dancer to you as soon as possible after rehearsals and the performances.

ACTIVITIES: Send your dancer with something to do while they wait to perform. Examples: cards, dolls, games, books. Pack a towel or small blanket for dancers to sit on.  DO NOT SEND MARKERS OR ANY OTHER ITEMS THAT CAN STAIN COSTUMES.  Food is allowed backstage, but PLEASE NO NUTS OF ANY KIND – we have dancers who are very allergic. Also, all dancers are expected to clean up after themselves. DO NOT EAT IN YOUR COSTUMES.  PACK LIGHTLY. SPILLABLE, MESSY PRODUCTS WILL BE THROWN AWAY.

MEDICATIONS: If you think your dancer will need medication during the show, please make sure they have it with them or that WE have whatever they can take in a Ziploc bag with their name on it. If you think they might need two Motrin, put just two Motrin in a baggie and leave it with us.

FLOWERS: Many family members bring flowers to give to their dancers after the performances. FLOWERS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE BANKHEAD AUDITORIUM, so if you bring your own, you will have to leave them in the car and give them to your dancer in the lobby after the performances. VIDEOTAPING/PHOTOGRAPHY: John Buyer will be videotaping and photographing the performance. DVD’s may be purchased for $25 ($35 for Blu-ray) on the performance day. After the performance, DVD’s will be $35 ($45 for Blu-ray). You can go to the LSOD website (www.livermoredance.com) or go directly to www.dvdvideomem.com. Photos: Choose 20 of your favorite shots from the show for $35 by pre-ordering discs from John. Prices go up to $60 after the show.

There will be NO videotaping or photography of any kind allowed by audience members during the performances. Filming of the productions is prohibited by Livermore School of Dance and The Bankhead Theater. Patrons who are videotaping via camera, cell phone, etc. will be asked to leave the theater. It is unfair to other patrons to videotape and take pictures while they are trying to enjoy the show. More importantly, it is dangerous for the dancers. Please purchase a photo disc and/or a performance DVD so you have the lasting memory.

STUDIO SUMMER/FALL INFORMATION: Our studio will be closed after the performances until summer classes begin on July 8th.

Our summer schedule is available online and registration is open. Please visit our website at www.livermoredance.com to view the schedule or pick up a copy in the studio lobby. Fall 2013 schedules will be available by the end of June. Our fall session starts September 16th.

I’m looking forward to our performance dates. I want everyone to have a wonderful experience dancing on stage. Thanks in advance for all your dedication to these extra rehearsals and for bringing the students back and forth each week to dance for the past year. This has been another superb year. I’m so proud of what the kids have done. You will see what improvements have taken place in just one year and you will be overjoyed with their confidence and how they perform on stage.

Don’t forget…Bring your beautiful smiles and HAVE FUN!
