To check this, in the autumn of 1777 Captain Hertel de Rouville was sent with his British Company to occupy St. Francis. De Rouville was ordered to give most careful attention to travel up and down the St. Francis River, which has one of its sources in Lake Memphremagog and had for ages been a main Indian trail !O the Upper Connecticut. This route was well known and often used by Stockbridges, Mohicans, Pennacooks and Coosucks, as well as by white veterans of Amherst's campaigns. But in spite of de Rouville's clamp-down, Indians and whites went hither and yon practically unmolested.

Nous étions plus de 125 personnes du territoire à vouloir nous mobiliser à agir collectivement. À ce jour, nous demeurons convaincus que l’intuition validée lors du colloque demeure prioritaire : la pauvreté doit être combattue, d’une part, avec l’apport vital des personnes concernées et d’autre part, avec la contribution de personnes alliées, leaders dans leur milieu. Subséquemment à la tenue du colloque, nous tenions le 6 novembre 2002 la première rencontre de suivi. C’est à ce moment-là qu’a émergé le besoin de se doter localement d’un répertoire des actions de lutte à la pauvreté. Nous nous voyons donc ravis de vous remettre, quelques mois après l’expression de ce besoin, le RÉPERTOIRE DES ACTIONS, DES SERVICES ET DES CONCERTATIONS DE LUTTE À LA PAUVRETÉ. Les objectifs liés à ce répertoire sont les suivants : ¾ Se doter d’un outil répertoriant l’ensemble des actions et programmes dans le champ de la lutte à la pauvreté; ¾ Augmenter la connaissance de toutes les actions menées dans ce champ, entre autres, pour les acteurs et actrices des communautés locales; ¾ Apprécier toutes les actions faites sur notre territoire dans le champ de la lutte à la pauvreté; ¾ Encourager l’émergence de concertations nouvelles; ¾ Favoriser le démarrage de nouveaux projets, dans le but de répondre aux besoins non comblés.
