First, it conducts a survey of past and present Northern Sea Route (NSR) cargo flows. Then follow discussions of the route’s commercial potential as a transit route, as well as of its economic importance and relevance for each of the Russian Arctic regions. These discussions are summarized by estimates of what types and volumes of NSR cargoes that can realistically be expected in the period 2000-2015. This is then followed by a survey of the status quo of the NSR infrastructure (above all the ice-breakers, ice-class cargo vessels and ports), with estimates of its future capacity. Based on the estimated future NSR cargo potential, future NSR infrastructure requirements are calculated and compared with the estimated capacity in order to identify the main, future infrastructure bottlenecks for NSR operations. The information presented in the report is mainly compiled from data and research results that were published through the International Northern Sea Route Programme (INSROP) 1993-99, but considerable updates have been made using recent information, statistics and analyses from various sources. -

Argus Nefte Transport Oil transportation logistics in the former Soviet Union Volume XVI, 5, May 2017 Primorsk loads first 100,000t diesel cargo Russia’s main outlet for 10ppm diesel exports, the Baltic port of Primorsk, shipped a 100,000t cargo for the first time this month. The diesel was loaded on 4 May on the 113,300t Dong-A Thetis, owned by the South Korean shipping company Dong-A Tanker. The 100,000t cargo of Rosneft product was sold to trading company Vitol for delivery to the Amsterdam-Rotter- dam-Antwerp region, a market participant says. The Dong-A Thetis was loaded at Russian pipeline crude exports berth 3 or 4 — which can handle crude and diesel following a recent upgrade, and mn b/d can accommodate 90,000-150,000t vessels with 15.5m draught. 6.0 Transit crude Russian crude It remains unclear whether larger loadings at Primorsk will become a regular 5.0 occurrence. “Smaller 50,000-60,000t cargoes are more popular and the terminal 4.0 does not always have the opportunity to stockpile larger quantities of diesel for 3.0 export,” a source familiar with operations at the outlet says. But the loading is significant considering the planned 10mn t/yr capacity 2.0 addition to the 15mn t/yr Sever diesel pipeline by 2018. Executive Summary – Azerbaijan Trade Logistics Study Introduction Azerbaijan encompasses a land area of 86,600 square kilometers. In addition to its country population of 8.5 million, over twenty five million of Azeri diasporas live and work in Russia, Iran, Georgia and other countries. Situated on the Caucasus region and adjacent to the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan offers one of the most attractive transit links along the East – West trade route between Asia and Europe, as well as the North – South trade route between North Europe, Russia on the one hand and Middle East, South Asia on the other. Both CAREC Corridor 2 and the TRACECA Corridor pass through Azerbaijan. Among CAREC countries, Azerbaijan is the closest to open sea and has four attractive access routes. The Black Sea is only 300 km overland from its border with Georgia and can be accessed through the Volga - Don Canal from May to October. The Baltic Sea is accessible through the Baltic-Volga Canal except the winter months. The Persian Gulf Port of Bandar Abbas is only 1800 km from the Azerbaijan’s border with Iran. In addition, each route to open sea requires transit through only one country, reducing geopolitical risk substantially. -

The present article is concerned with development trends of the hospitality industry and domestic tourism in rural territories of the Rostov region. This article provides a review of materials related to the research problem; rural districts of the Rostov region are considered from the perspective of the development of the hospitality industry and domestic tourism. In addition, perspective events, which are able to become a basis for the development of domestic tourism in some districts, are defined. 1 Introduction Today, tourism in rural territories is able to become a growth area for the tourist and recreational sector of some districts. In rural areas, a wide range of domestic tourism types, such as agritourism, ecotourism, ethnographic tourism, sport tourism, fishing, food tourism, equine tourism can be implemented. For the tourism sector to operate in a balanced manner, it is necessary to develop the hospitality industry, which includes accommodation means, catering and trade establishments, tourist-information centers, etc. Means of accommodation are a major component of tourism infrastructure, as accommodation is a key service in a tourism product. Due to emerging infrastructure, the development of tourist resources occurs; their attractiveness, availability for tourists and the tourist capacity of the territory are increasing. Thus, hotel services are the basis of the tourist offer, in line with rural tourism. -

Luftwaffe Airfields 1935-45 Russia (incl. Kharkov-Rogan I was built in 1930 for use as a military flight school. It had 8 medium and large aircraft hangars and 1 very large repair hangar, approx. 40 permanent barrack buildings, 3 workshops, admin buildings and storage structures, an oval athletic track and other facilities all grouped along the W boundary and SW corner of the landing area. There were about 10 additional structures along the S boundary that may have been for aircraft servicing and stores. Additionally, there were 22 blast bays for twin-engine and single-engine aircraft spaced along the W and S boundaries of the landing area. A separate supply dump with its own rail spur was approx. 1 km S of the airfield. Nearly all of these buildings had been destroyed or badly damaged by 1944, the majority of them blown up by the retreating Germans. Edition: February 2020 Airfields Russia (incl. The article is based on the materials of the Don, Kuban and Stavropol regions as the most important agricultural regions of Russia, highlights the process of development and introduction of gas-generating tractors in Soviet agriculture during the 1930s, which represented a special direction of mechanization of agricultural production in the period under review. The author's statement that in the 1930s the author's work was carried out is convincingly justified. Representatives of the Party-Soviet leadership paid close attention to the development of gas-generating equipment as consuming cheaper fuel in comparison with petroleum products and it led to the rapid development of these technical devices and their quantitative growth, including in Soviet and collective farms. It was proved that, despite the efforts of the designers, gas-generating tractors had a number of significant drawbacks, which made their operation difficult and became one of the most important reasons for their usage stopping in agriculture. 1 Introduction In the 1930s, the Soviet Union developed a rapid mechanization of agriculture, the leading device of which in agriculture was a tractor, capable of processing huge land areas, transporting trailed agricultural equipment, and transporting a variety of goods. In addition to the quantitative saturation of agriculture with tractors in the 1930s, work was carried out on their improvement, increasing their efficiency. -
