Two people have drowned so far this year as a result of the rip FIRST current at the south end of Nai Harn Beach, which was unmanned by lifeguards from mid-November last year until April PERSON 26. Now that there are no lifeguards, I have been very busy helping people, and will be until the new lifeguards start work. On April 13, alone, we helped 30 swimmers who were in trouble. If we hadn’t been there, I’d say around 10 of them would have drowned. There were drownings on both New Year’s and Valentine’s Days this year. We tried our best to save them, but couldn’t. In the 18 years I’ve been working on this beach, it is impossible for me to count how many people I have helped. People seem to ignore the dangers.
