Day 4: (B) South on Cabrillo Highway One to Bixby Bridge. On to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to see the Giant Coastal Redwoods. Continue on Big Sur Pacific Coast Highway to San Simeon, for a tour of Hearst Castle built by Julia Morgan during the 1920s and 1930s for the art collection of world famous newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Day 5: Morning free or optional 1/2 day Wine Wrangler tour to visit 3 local wineries, cost about $109 including lunch. The Coast Starlight train leaves Paso Robles at 1:45 or San Luis Obispo at 3:20. The hotel will provide the transfer to the train station. The rails go by Pismo Beach to Pt. Arguello. Through restricted Vandenberg Air Force Base see launch pads for the space rockets and then some of the most scenic ocean views all the way through Santa Barbara to Oxnard. Turning inland the train goes past miles of orange groves then through Simi Valley and Glendale. Day 1: Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo. 258 miles by AMTRAK Coast Starlight train. (D) Leave Union Station, Los Angeles at 10:10 a.m. (or Anaheim at 8:07 a.m. for additional $15 per person). Scenic train ride through Oxnard Santa Barbara and Vandenberg Air Force Base to San Luis Obispo. At 3:22 upon arrival in San Luis Obispo you are greeted by the hotel van for a short drive to The Apple Farm Inn. Check in for the night and enjoy dinner.

Day 2: San Luis Obispo to Hearst Castle, 80 miles then by train and bus, 117 miles to Monterey. (PL) The Wine Wrangler tour to San Simeon. Day 3: Monterey Peninsula Tour - then to San Francisco. 154 miles by motor coach. (B). Enjoy a relaxing morning in Monterey. Just around 12:00 you are picked up by motor coach from San Francisco for a tour of historic Monterey, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove, 17 Mile Drive, The Lone Cypress, Pebble Beach and Carmel Plaza. Leaving around 5:00 drive to then along the San Andreas Fault. Through Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Jose the pace quickens and slows arriving in San Francisco around 7:30 p.m. The trip ends at your hotel.

3 Yosemite National Park ONE DAY TOUR, OR 2 OR 3 DAYS PACKAGE WITH HOTEL IN EL PORTAL,(ouTside the Valley) OR TRANSPORTATION ONLY Yosemite Valley is located about 215 miles south east of San Francisco. Visitors should spend a night or two in order to see the spectacular sights and experience Yosemite Valley.

Two ways to travel 1) Direct Motor coach. Day 1. Pick up from any downtown hotel in central San Francisco area between 6:15 and 6:45. Leave San Francisco by 7:00 stopping on request for pick up in Oakland or Pleasanton. Over Altamont Pass and through San Joaquin Valley with a short stop en route, arrival at Yosemite Arch Rock is by 12:00. After a brief stop at Tunnel View you reach Yosemite Lodge at 1:30. Day 2 or 3. Return trip starts at 3:45 p.m. A brief stop is made at about 6:00. Coming over the Altamont Pass we drive through Livermore Valley arriving San Francisco after 8:30. Drop off at the hotels from where you were picked up. Due to traffic delays or late departure please do not expect to catch a flight at night. For San Francisco International Airport it is best to take a shuttle or taxi from the first stop or we can book a sedan at an additional cost of $80. Tour operates by motor coach every day from May 1 to October 31, 2014 and 2015.

2) AMTRAK train / YARTS coach. Day 1. At 6:45 a.m. check in at the AMTRAK depot next to the Ferry Building. At 7:05 their motor coach takes you to Emeryville. Board San Joaquin Train at 7:40 arriving Merced 10:31. YARTS motor coach leaves at 11:00 via Mariposa and El Portal reach Yosemite Lodge by 1:15. Day 2 or 3. Return trip on YARTS at 3:45 reaching Merced 6:23. Board the train at 6:49 reaching Emeryville at 9:48. AMTRAK thruway coach at 9:52 brings you to San Francisco by 10:15. Earlier return trip leaves at 10:00 a.m. arriving in San Francisco by 5:00 p.m. or Los Angeles by 6:40 p.m. Some days, not often, trains are delayed. Available all year, this is a preferred method of travel during the winter season from November 1 to April 30.

Package tours for two or three days are available all year. Yosemite View Lodge, El Portal is near the Arch Rock Entrance on Highway 140 about 12 miles down river from Yosemite Village. This 335 room inn has a choice of rooms with Merced River view or mountain view. Each room has air conditioning, TV, large bathroom, all electric kitchen and balcony. Some rooms have fireplaces. Restaurant and lounge are open during the busy season for fine dining. Breakfast available all year. There is a pizza parlor and a grocery/gift shop. Transportation between the Yosemite View Lodge and Yosemite Valley by YARTS bus, (included in the package price) takes about 30 minutes.

Rates per person include round trip motor coach and or train transportation (no extra charge for luggage), park entrance fee, one round trip ticket between Yosemite Valley and El Portal on YARTS for each night plus room (with In-room private bath) and tax. If you travel by AMTRAK (2 above), YARTS does not stop at Tunnel View, but you can see it on the optional Valley Floor tour the next day.

If you stay one night you have time on the second day for the 2 hour Yosemite Valley Floor tour ($25) or the 4 hour Glacier Point tour ($41). These tours depart from Yosemite Lodge and can be booked by their Tour Desk when you arrive at 1:30 or by calling 209 372 4386. If you stay two nights June to late October you have time to take the 8 hour Grand Tour of Mariposa Grove of Big Trees and Glacier Point ($82). Please reserve this tour in advance as it sells out on many days.

Transportation only – going one day and returning on a different day is available at a cost of $180. This includes park entrance fee. There is no extra charge for full size suitcases carried on the bus or hand luggage carried by the passenger.

One day tour can be done by motor coach as shown in 1 above. Cost including Park Entrance Fee is $139 for adult, $99 for child under 17. On some days this tour may be available at $129 for adult and $89 for child.

2014/2015

4 Yosemite National Park FROM SAN FRANCISCO* STAY IN YOSEMITE VALLEY It is possible to stay right INSIDE Yosemite Valley at YOSEMITE LODGE or THE AHWAHNEE HOTEL if you book in ADVANCE. 2 day or 3 day packages include: Transportation with luggage, park entrance fee, room (with in room private bath) including tax, and Glacier Point Tour (late May to October) or Yosemite Valley Floor Tour year around.

Day 1. Pick up from any downtown hotel in central San Francisco area between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. Direct motor coach leaves San Francisco around 7:00 going through Livermore Valley and over Altamont Pass. With a short stop en route, arrival at Yosemite Park Big Arch Rock entrance is at about 12:00. Driving along south side of Merced River you see the Half Dome and waterfalls during winter, spring and summer months. The tour drop off at Yosemite Lodge is at about 1:30 p.m. If you are staying at The Ahwahnee the shuttle takes you there. Check in is at about 4:00 so they store your luggage. You have time to take the free shuttle and get familiar with the area.

Day 2. You have reservations to take the Glacier Point Tour leaving Yosemite Lodge at 8:30 a.m. This takes about four hours and goes up to about 8,000 feet in elevation. When that tour is not operating or if the elevation bothers you the alternate is the 2-hour Yosemite Valley tour. If you stay two nights you can take the 8-hour Grand Tour (instead of Glacier Point) that includes Mariposa Grove of Big Trees and Glacier Point at an additional cost of about $41 (child $23). Please reserve this tour in advance as it sells out on many days. On any of these three tours from the Tunnel View stop you see magnificent sights including most of Yosemite Valley.

Day 2 or 3. Return trip starts from Yosemite Lodge at 3:45 p.m. A brief stop is made at about 6:00. Coming over the Altamont Pass we drive through Livermore Valley arriving San Francisco by 8:30. You are dropped off at one of the hotels even if it is different from where you were picked up. There can be traffic delays or late departure - please do not expect to catch a flight at night. If you are going on to San Francisco International Airport it is best to take a shuttle or taxi from the first stop or we can book a sedan at additional cost of $80.

Package tours for two or three days are available all year. May 1 to October 31 you travel by motor coach with a stop at Tunnel View. November through April by AMTRAK to Merced then YARTS bus to Yosemite, reverse for return. Rates per person include round trip transportation with luggage, park entrance fee, room with tax, and Glacier Point or Yosemite Valley Floor Tour.

Rooms at Yosemite Lodge are booked up well in advance. It is advisable to request reservations even six months or more in advance with a deposit. Final payments have to be made a month in advance. Please refer to information, applicable conditions and restrictions. Transportation for tours to Yosemite is provided by a duly licensed and insured motor coach company.

5 2 Days Paso & Castle FROM SAN FRANCISCO 2 Days/1 night. Agriculture and rivers of Santa Clara and Salinas Valley, relaxing train ride in parts of California rarely seen by visitors, historic Paso Robles and Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Return to San Francisco or continue to Los Angeles. Tour includes: AMTRAK Coast Starlight ticket, hotel room with tax, picnic lunch and Hearst Castle Experience.

Day 1: San Francisco to Paso Robles - 215 miles. From San Francisco at 7:45 a.m. on AMTRAK thruway bus to Jack London Square in Oakland to board The Coast Starlight train leaving at 8:50. Riding on the eastern shores of the Bay past the marshlands and salt flats through Silicon Valley and San Jose see garlic and grapes growing alongside in Gilroy. Past San Andreas fault line through Salinas you see fields of lettuce, broccoli and acres of green houses along the river with mountains on both sides. See the vistas from the dome car and enjoy lunch in the dining car. After King City we go through small towns and miles of vineyards where just a few years ago there was only cattle pasture. Around 1:38 on arrival at Paso Robles train station you are transferred to historic Paso Robles Inn in this quintessential small town California. The area has 26,000 vineyard acres producing wine grapes that came from Spain, Italy, France and the heritage varietal, Zinfandel.

Day 2: Paso Robles to Hearst Castle, 92 miles by mini bus, then 215 miles by train and bus to San Francisco or 220 miles to Los Angeles. (PL) The Wine Wrangler Tour Co takes you to San Simeon, about 40 minutes west on Highway One along the coast. Take The Experience Tour of Hearst Castle built by Julia Morgan during the 1920s and 1930s for the art collection of world famous newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. See the movie “Building The Dream”. After a picnic lunch we go to San Luis Obispo to board the train at 3:35. At Camp Roberts we enter Monterey County and along the Salinas River oil fields give way to the Valley. Riding through one of the largest vineyards we come upon miles of broccoli, lettuce, flowers and berries. The train stops briefly in Salinas where John Steinbeck chronicled the transformation of Monterey county from the days of depression to the wealthier times. The artichoke and strawberry fields and green houses give way to the urban sprawl that emerges north through Gilroy and Morgan Hill. Through San Jose along the east bay past the salt flats and marshes we reach Oakland at 9:24 where the bus waiting for us takes us to San Francisco arriving just after 10:00 p.m.

Day 1: San Francisco to Napa and Sonoma - 105 miles Leaving San Francisco around 9:00 a.m. across the Oakland Bay Bridge the first stop an hour later is at Madonna Estate Winery in Napa to see making of wine. North to Sutter Home Winery near Calistoga for tasting wines of a different variety. Continue through Yountville to Sonoma Square. Time for lunch and a walk around this historic Plaza. The Sebastiani family has the heritage of three generations of Italian winemaking. Taste some of their recent wines and enjoy this idyllic setting. By this time it should be around 4:30 and the driver will drop you at Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn. Check in for the night.

Day 2 – Sonoma to San Francisco - 45 miles Good Time Touring Co. can help you spend the day taking local tours or riding bicycles, etc. You can visit wineries, go to the Spa or spend the day at leisure. On the day coming back to San Francisco around 4:30 p.m. we head via Marin County and Golden Gate Bridge to your hotel in the City. You should be back around 6:00 allowing you plenty of time for dinner.

Riding through suburbs of Los Angeles we see Simi Valley, orange groves and green houses, reaching the Pacific coast at Oxnard. As the train hugs the shores we see the most magnificent vistas. West through Santa Barbara and then turning north at Goleta we pass by Vandenberg Space Station on the way to Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo. Day 2: Monterey to San Francisco – 154 miles Enjoy a relaxing morning in Monterey. Just around 12:00 you are picked up by motor coach from San Francisco. Tour the rest of the day in historic Monterey, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove, 17 Mile Drive, The Lone Cypress, Pebble Beach and Carmel Plaza. Leaving after 5:00 drive to Fort Ord then along the San Andreas Fault through Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Jose. The pace quickens and slows with the traffic arriving in San Francisco around 7:30 p.m. The trip ends at your hotel.

Up to 21 days before tour date the charge is $50 per person. B. 20 to 3 days prior tour date the charge is 50% of the tour cost. C. 2 days to 24 hours prior tour the charge is 75% of the tour cost. D. Less than 24 hours or No Show the charge is 100% of the tour cost. E. If full payment is not received 30 days before travel date we may cancel the reservation and there will be no refund at all. F. The refund is the amount paid minus the cancellation charge. Refunds are processed within three weeks of cancellation. G. If we cancel the tour at less than 28 days notice, and if we have received full payment, the refund is 110% of the tour cost. If you discontinue the tour room costs, unused sightseeing or meals are not refundable.

Contractual Sale includes co-ordination, transportation by tour coach worth $30.00 to $ 50.00 per day, admission costs as stated, hotel rooms with tax, certain meals with tax and gratuities and baggage handling at hotels on some tours.
