FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ATK-11-149 November 17, 2011 Contact: Marc Magliari 312 544.5390 CHICAGO AMTRAK TRAINS SUPER-SIZED FOR HOLIDAYS Unique ‘Great Dome’ car adds seats and scenic views on selected dates CHICAGO – Amtrak is operating all available railcars and locomotives on trains to and from the Chicago area in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday travel season. Fresh from fall colors trips to and from the East Coast, starting today the historic Amtrak “Great Dome” rail car will provide a unique opportunity to experience city and prairie views to and from Chicago as it adds extra seating capacity to super-size the busy trains. The dome car features an upper level with windows on all sides – as well as overhead – to provide passengers with panoramic views. The dome section runs the full length of the car, a rare feature even when dome cars were more numerous on the nation’s railroads. The dome car is scheduled to operate on the following Lincoln Service, Saluki/Illini and Wolverine Service trains to and from St. Louis, Carbondale and Detroit/Pontiac on the following dates: Trains 301 & 304 on Nov. 17, Nov. 19 and Nov. 25, Trains 303 & 306 on Nov. 18 and Nov. 26, Trains 391 & 392 on Nov. 21, Train 305 on Nov. 22, Trains 300 & 352 on Nov. 23, Train 351 on Nov. 24, Train 393 on Nov. 27 and Train 390 on Nov. 28. Seats in the dome car are not reserved and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The heaviest single travel day of the year for Amtrak is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving which set a record last year of 134,230 passengers for the day. -

The diesel was loaded on 4 May on the 113,300t Dong-A Thetis, owned by the South Korean shipping company Dong-A Tanker. The 100,000t cargo of Rosneft product was sold to trading company Vitol for delivery to the Amsterdam-Rotter- dam-Antwerp region, a market participant says. The Dong-A Thetis was loaded at Russian pipeline crude exports berth 3 or 4 — which can handle crude and diesel following a recent upgrade, and mn b/d can accommodate 90,000-150,000t vessels with 15.5m draught. 6.0 Transit crude Russian crude It remains unclear whether larger loadings at Primorsk will become a regular 5.0 occurrence. “Smaller 50,000-60,000t cargoes are more popular and the terminal 4.0 does not always have the opportunity to stockpile larger quantities of diesel for 3.0 export,” a source familiar with operations at the outlet says. But the loading is significant considering the planned 10mn t/yr capacity 2.0 addition to the 15mn t/yr Sever diesel pipeline by 2018. Qualifications and Scope I. Qualifications The qualified inspector shall have demonstrated knowledge in inspection of various types of locomotive and passenger cars in use, their capabilities and limitations. The selected Consultant shall have: A. Demonstrated knowledge in federal laws and regulations pertaining to inspection and testing of locomotives, passenger cars and power brakes. B. Experience in writing narrative reports that describe mechanical issues related to non-compliance or safety concerns is required of the selected Consultant. C. Knowledge of the general safety and health principles and practices applicable to the railroad industry and skill in written and oral communication. The work will require walking over uneven surfaces in the railroad train yards and bending, crouching, stretching and crawling. The inspector will be exposed to a variety of weather conditions. II. Scope The State of Indiana transitioned the Amtrak-only state sponsored passenger rail service to a service provided jointly by Amtrak and Iowa Pacific Holdings. The service provides four round trips each week from Indianapolis to Chicago, with stops in Crawfordsville, Lafayette, Renssealaer and Dyer. Iowa Pacific Holdings (IPH) provides the equipment and equipment maintenance, food service and Hoosier State specific marketing and advertising. Amtrak will continue to manage the host railroad relationships, provide highly qualified train and engine crews, and manage reservations and ticketing. INDOT entered into separate contracts with each vendor on Friday, July 31. August 2nd was the first round trip train under the new operating agreements. The current train consists of three diesel locomotives, SLRG 4144, SLRG 4137 and SLRG 4135, three coach cars – MRLX 8000748, MLRX 800880, MRLX 800651 and one dome car – SLRG 554. -
