He also wrote three operas: Y Ferch o Gefn Ydfa; Bugail Craig y Fforest, and Y Gobaith Lofruddiwyd or Gwenhwyfar. Many of his hymns are still sung today in the Presbyterian Church of Wales, the Independent Church and the Baptist Church in Wales. They are included in the hymn book, Caneuon Fydd. Its overarching concerns trace the interrelation between immigration, identity and creativity within a Welsh Trans-Atlantic context. Braids of Song is a mixed-genre collection of stories that acknowledges the preciousness of culture; in particular, the music, which is both able to cross different linguistic boundaries and to breach those between melody and language itself. The stories are shared through four intertwined narrative strands in a mixture of literary styles, ranging from creative non-fiction essays and poems to dramatic monologues.

    3. La Révolution en chansons La Marseillaise Elle naît le 25 avril 1792. La Patrie est alors en danger : les souverains d’Europe sont inquiets du sort fait à Louis XVI, les émigrés s’agitent, la France déclare la guerre au roi de Bohême et de Hongrie (l’empereur d’Autriche) le 20 avril et lève des troupes. Claude Joseph Rouget de L’Isle ou de Lisle, officier né à Lons-le-Saunier, est cantonné à Strasbourg. Porté par son enthousiasme patriotique, il compose plusieurs chants, dont le fameux « chant de guerre pour l’armée du Rhin ». Ce chant est repris par des fédérés marseillais, qui le propagent tout au long de leur marche vers Paris. Il devient ainsi la Marche des Marseillois, puis La Marseillaise… Adopté comme hymne national du 14 juillet 1795 jusqu’à l’Empire, puis définitivement en 1879 sous la IIIe République. L’hymne le plus entraînant !!! C’est ce qu’affirment deux musicologues : Alisun Russel-Pawley (université d’York) et Daniel Le palmarès des hymnes les plus Müllensiefen (université Goldsmith à Londres). entraînants et faciles à chanter (Daily Mail, 25 janvier 2012). 1. It compasses the evolution of various anthems considering the so called musical “teoria degli affetti” and the meaning of the text. A specific focus is about the italian National anthem, comparing the fierce battle music and the old style text it with the principles of the Italian Constitution. In Italy three Regions have an official anthem and they are analyzed too. L’articolo affronta il tema del ruolo dell’inno nazionale nel contesto dello Stato moderno. Analizza l’origine e l’evoluzione del concetto di inno nazionale, l’origine europea che affonda le radici nella teoria musicale degli affetti e in un certo modo di intendere i canti patriottici (o di battaglia). Un’attenzione specifica è dedicata all’inno nazionale italiano, comparandone il testo ottocentesco e la musica di marcia di battaglia con i principi della Costituzione italiana e con la celebrazione ufficiale garantita dalla legge. A significant part deals with the Breton language from a historical and current point of view. The article is based on primary and secondary data which were obtained from field research in Brittany. Despite intolerance and repression from France, the Breton minority has remained unique until today. In the 20th century, repressions from the French state caused denial of identity by Bretons themselves. These repressions had a negative effect especially on the regional Celtic language which is considered an endangered language. Represe a intolerance ze strany většiny měly za následek popírání bretonské identity i v řadách samotných příslušníků menšiny. Důležitou součástí bretonské identity je keltský jazyk, kterým v současnosti hovoří kolem 200 000 mluvčích. Bretonština je tak řazena mezi vážně ohrožené jazyky.

The topic of the article is Geraint Thomas’s Tour de France 2018 triumph and its reflection in the Welsh society, to be more specific, among the elected nationalist politicians of Plaid Cymru (Party of Wales). Thomas has become the first Welsh cyclist who has ever won the most famous Grand Tour and, as I suppose, his success was used by these politicians to (re)construct the Welsh national identity via the new social network Twitter, and they used different categories of tweets openly connected with Thomas’s triumph. The aim of this study is to confirm or disprove this assumption. I'm missing it all more than I thought I would. I love ambling around Gower's pretty lanes to find the fabulous little churches and the atmosphere at the concerts is always special. I suppose – hand on heart – I don't miss sitting on the hard wooden pews but there again the numbness soon wears off with the aid of a glass of interval wine (or a cold beer as there was last year – nice one G.F.!). At least the flies, wasps and midges that inhabit the Gower churchyards are having a far more peaceful summer without us swatting away at them. I've been thinking; when I started out as a musician (which was admittedly a few decades ago), wherever and whenever I played in concerts or musical theatre shows, or indeed any event, we used to either begin or end the proceedings with Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. Sometimes God Save The Queen as well. It used to be played on TV stations when they closed down and at the end of the films in cinemas. TV stations don't close down anymore and by the time the credits roll at the end of a film the cinemas are empty.
