PROGRESS REPORT Sam Rayburn Tollway Fourth Lane Project WINTER 2017 The North Texas population continues to grow. The Sam Rayburn Project Manager: Tollway will be widened to keep up with demand and to keep Kelly Johnson, P.E. (Planning and Design Stages) traffic moving. A fourth lane will be added in each direction to the entire 26-mile tollway. This widening project is currently in the planning phase. WHAT HAPPENED RECENTLY? Google Map users will find the Eastern Extension as a continuous route from Rowlett to destinations around the Metroplex. The North Texas Tollway Authority opened the Eastern Extension in December 2011. NTTA TollTag customers will have the same convenience on all Oklahoma turnpikes. Both NTTA and OTA passed resolutions to allow interoperability. Although customers should only need one transponder, users who have both TollTag and PIKEPASS should call to determine if one or two accounts work best. NTTA is proposing the addition of one main lane in each direction along the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) from Business 121 (West) to U.S. Highway 75. The project is located within the cities of Allen, Carrollton, Coppell, Fairview, Frisco, Lewisville, McKinney, Plano, and The Colony within Collin, Dallas, and Denton Counties, Texas. The total distance of the proposed project is approximately 26 miles. The public hearing will be held at Taylor Elementary School, 9865 Gillespie Drive, Plano, TX 75025.
