As implementation of the 2007-2013 programme period progresses, we witness how access to new information and mutual learning resolve common local devel- opment issues, thus adding value and producing benefi ts for the people living in the rural territories involved. There are many challenges that those interested in cooperation may face. They range from diff erences of an administrative nature to diffi culties rooted in the fact that the planning and management of Cooperation is resource-hungry. Let’s not forget that a lot of hard work and time is spent by rural actors on a voluntary basis (in addition to the €265 million of EAFRD funding budgeted for Cooperation). -

Culinary Route En
CULINARY ROUTE EN LATVIA ESTONIA LATVIA AND ESTONIA just celebrated the 100th birth- day of their independent states. But many centuries ago, they both formed Livonia, the trade routes of which ran through the legendary Hanseatic League cities. The histo- rical heritage of the time – the street network, cobblesto- ne pavement, churches and bustling marketplaces – allows every citizen of such European countries as Germany, Den- mark, Sweden, Poland and others to feel at home in every Hanseatic city. Nowadays, the innkeepers, craftsmen, food producers and merchants of these towns and surrounding countryside are waiting for visitors from far and near, offering meals that combine ancient traditions with new ideas and opportuni- ties. Local food can be described as clean, fresh and fair, mostly using locally grown produce or products harvested in the wild.
