Ph.D. project Thesis Title: - “Molecular mechanism(s) underlying multipartite genome maintenance in radiation resistant bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans R1” I pursued my Ph.D. degree work under the guidance of Prof. H.S. Misra at Molecular Biology Division, BARC, HBNI. I worked on genome partitioning system in bacteria which is a tripartite system with a centromere sequence, centromere binding protein (ParB) and motor NTPase ParA which recognize centromere-ParB complex and place the newly replicated genomic elements in daughter cells via their polymerization/depolymerization dynamics. D. radiodurans, a multipartite genome harboring bacteria with ploidy, contains 2 chromosomes (Chr I and Chr II) and 2 plasmids (megaplasmid; Mp and small plasmid; Sp).
