Download Your Manual From The Guv’nor’ Jim Marshall* ENGLISH I would like to personally congratulate you on choosing the all-valve, 100 Watt, JVM410HJS Joe Satriani Signature amplifi er. Joe worked very closely with my top R&D chap, Santiago Alvarez, on this amp for a number of years and the result of this collaboration is fantastic. As is the fact that Joe has quite literally road-tested the prototypes on tour all over the world and also in the recording studio. I’ve followed Joe’s career ever since his self-fi nanced debut album, Not of This Earth, came out in the mid ‘80s. I’m delighted that he recorded many of his classic instrumentals using Marshall amps. In fact, some of the sounds the JVM410HJS’s modes are capable of pay homage to many of those great old amps he relied on – from JMPs to the 30th Anniversary 6100 that he used for so many years. Like Joe, I’m extremely proud of the amp that he and Santiago have developed. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you every success with your new Marshall JVM410HJS. I’m sure it will bring you countless hours of playing pleasure. Welcome to the Marshall family. Yours Sincerely, Jim Marshall *Footnote: this intro was the fi nal one Jim worked on before making Heaven a much louder place! Here’s what Joe had to say on hearing of Jim’s passing: 1 ENGLISH First and foremost, thanks for getting ones and eventually, by the end of that tour, I’d I was playing through mine and we both realized as a result of the JVM on the “Get Your Buzz On” realized that using a distortion box into a clean that our amps weren’t up to it. So we contacted live DVD [fi lmed on one night in 2009]. It’s a very my new Marshall Signature Amp – it’s channel was really helping me do the show. At the Marshall about helping us out for the subsequent fat, rich tone which we’ve since taken several steps something I’m very proud of. Having a end of the tour I went back into the studio to “real” tour as neither of us had confi dence in our further to make it even more of an organic rock and Signature Marshall is an elite fraternity start recording what would become “The Extremist” rigs. Marshall set us up with some JVM and some roll sound - which is the hallmark of my signature album, and Marshall had sent over this new head – Vintage Modern heads and we just loved them. They amp. and I feel honored to be part of it. the 30th Anniversary 6100. The fi rst thing I did was literally transformed the sound of the band. I was When I look across at the names of the go in to the clean channel and seeing how my box using a JVM and the end of that touring cycle I’d Thanks to a really long and fruitful R&D period, guys who’ve got and have had signature sounded and it was like: Wow – that’s amazing.. And realized exactly what it was I was looking to get I’ve been able to record, rehearse and play live with that was really the beginning of me just depending out of the amp. Then came the offer to work with all the prototypes while Santiago and I fi ne tuned models it’s very impressive to say the on that head. I’ve got 5 of them & I even have a Marshall on a signature head… the amp…not just with Chickenfoot but on my least. They’re all players I greatly respect full stack with the polished brass chassis and logo solo stuff too. I’ve really put all the prototypes that’s very cool. I was not only fl attered by this gesture but also through their paces in “the real world” – well, in and listen to. The amps that bear their very excited because I had real, practical experience “my real world” anyway. To my mind, the original names are very cool and I like the fact I played “hooky” from the brand for while but with the JVM and I had some things I wanted JVM410H has a sizeable chunk of Marshall History that they’re specifi c, they do something when Chickenfoot formed a few years ago, I came to change about it – specifi cally, make an already encapsulated within its 12 modes. I feel that back to Marshall because I was looking for a great amp even bigger, bolder, more punchy and more Santiago and myself have capitalized and expanded outrageous and when you plug in to one bigger, more organic, more complete sound. The dynamic. To me the JVM410H’s four channels were upon that fi rm sonic foundation and, as a result, you get really inspired. So, for all those great thing about a distortion box into a clean amazing but what was even more mind-blowing was the JVM410HJS contains a lot of classic Marshall channel is that if you’re playing melodies and solos that it had three switchable modes per channel. So tones as well as a few fresh ones that people will reasons it’s really an honor to be part of back-to-back, when you put it in-front of everyone it wasn’t merely a 4 channel amp, it was 4 by 3. It regard as new classics. the group. else in the band, it creates the illusion that it’s the was fascinating just to sit there and play through biggest, loudest thing. But, if you’re playing through it. I felt that the designer, Santiago Alvarez, had I sincerely hope JVM410HJS gives you as much As you may know I’m not new to Marshall – we a rig like that and you’ve got a very dynamic drummer really made a huge step forward in amplifi er design playing pleasure as it gives me. I can honestly say have quite a history together. Back in 1988, when like Chad Smith, a bassist like Michael Anthony and by being able to pack so much into a head while that I’ve never had this much fun or derived this I started touring for “Surfi ng With The Alien” I a vocal powerhouse like Sammy Hagar, you quickly making it so elegantly designed and functional. • “Classic Deep Purple Live” Performed by Glen Hughes Keswick Theatre Friday, September 7
“CLASSIC DEEP PURPLE LIVE” PERFORMED BY GLEN HUGHES KESWICK THEATRE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 Glenn Hughes, former bassist and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the ‘Voice of Rock’, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the current front man for rock super group Black Country Communion is pleased to announce that he will be performing Deep Purple only material with his “CLASSIC DEEP PURPLE LIVE” at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA on Friday, September 7. The tour promises to be dynamic, a turn-back-the-clocks, two-hour live extravaganza homage to his tenure in MK 3 and MK 4 incarnations of Deep Purple - one of music history’s most seminal and influential rock and roll groups. "I'm excited to be touring the “Classic Deep Purple Live” in the US this year. I first toured Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand last year and it went down like a storm. We’re also touring the show throughout South America and international festivals throughout the summer. By the time we tour the US, then the UK in October, we’ll be on fire.” As well as Glenn on lead vocals and bass guitar, the touring band also features Soren Anderson (guitar), Jesper Bo Hansen (keyboards) and Fer Escobedo (drums) Deep Purple took a quantum leap when the then 20-year-old Glenn Hughes was seconded from British funk-rock outfit Trapeze in mid-1973. As bassist and co-vocalist (with David Coverdale), he helped steer the legendary rock group in the progressive direction of Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974) and Come Taste the Band (1975), while touring the world for three years.

  • Joe Satriani WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Joe Satriani WHAT HAPPENS NEXT Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet Joe Satriani. On What Happens Next, the legendary guitarist reveals a new persona: himself. As fans know, Satriani hinted at the demise of his alter ego in 2015’s Shockwave Supernova album after that character threatened to battle Satriani for his very soul. As Satriani hit the road in support of the album, he discovered Shockwave Supernova, the latest in a long line of alien personas Satriani had created, was truly suffocating him—a process captured in a new documentary directed by Satriani’s son ZZ, which will debut at the Mill Valley Film Festival. “As I was doing the last few legs of the tour, I started to think ‘Wow, maybe this is real life.’ I am feeling like I should just drop this guy and figure out a way to do something very different.” What happened next was nothing short of a metamorphosis. “It was an internal artistic rebirth,” Satriani says. “I’m thinking, ‘No science fiction, no time travel, no songs about distant planets or aliens or anything like that.” Instead, Satriani looked inward, writing songs, he says, “about a human being, two feet on the ground, heart pumping, with emotions, dreams, and hopes. That seemed to be the direction I really was yearning for.” The stunning result is What Happens Next, the most accessible, straight forward rock album that Satriani has ever made. The set pulses with a vibrant energy from the dynamic opening track “Energy “to the stomp of “Catbot,” majestic crunch of “Thunder High On The Mountain,” spiritual grace of “Righteous” and sensuality of “Smooth Soul.” There’s a vulnerability to shedding the protective veneer that personas such as Shockwave Supernova provided.

The band was formed way back in 1968, and is still going today, although only one founder member is left, drummer Ian Paice. Founder member Jon Lord died in 2012, and although they are both still alive, original bass player Nic Simper and vocalist Rod Evans have long since left the scene. That leaves only Blackmore, who has been doing his own thing in spectacular style with Faerie Queen Candice Night since 1997.
