8Th October 2013 Richard Bonfield Lexington Court, Kerry, Newtown, Powys SY16 4LU 8th October 2013 Richard Bonfield Lexington Court, Kerry, Newtown, Powys SY16 4LU My witness statement for the Public inquiry re Area B Carnedd Wen & Llanbrynmair Windfarms I have lived in Mid Wales for over 27 years and every day marvel at our wonderful landscape. I totally oppose the above two windfarms based on the following :- Noise, Hydrology, Peat ,and wildlife – I will leave to others with more expertise in these areas Landscape & visual impact The nature of Mid Wales is it undulating and rolling hills which isin contrast to North Wales with its rugged mountains and South Wales with other high peaks such as the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons The Height of the proposed turbines for both Carnedd Wen at 137 metres ( 449 feet) and Llanbrynmair at 126 metres ( 413 feet ) are totally out of scale to the undulating and rolling landscape – some with plateaus which give great pleasure to locals and visitors alike The London Eye is 443 feet high and this gives a visual measurement for those people who cannot envisage just high 449 feet is Also the swept area of blades is massive with Carnedd Wen 50 turbines covering 86 acres and Llanbrynmair 39 turbines covering 50 acres This is shown to be so massive as the swept area of the existing 102 turbines at Llandinam only cover 17 acres Need As with my submission to Area C the output from these two windfarms will be so small in comparison to huge damage to the landscape and damage to peoples livelihoods who live in the area – that they should be refused on this ground alone I therefore request that the Inspector recommends refusal of the se two windfarm applications. S T R A Y S Volume One: !'IARRIAGES Introduction This volume of 'stray' marriages is published with the hope that it will prove of some value as an additional source for the familv historian. For economic reasons, the 9rooms' names only are listed. Often people married many miles from their own parishes and sometimes also away from the parish of the spouse. Tracking down such a 'stray marriage' can involve fruitless and dishearteninq searches and may halt progress for many years. - Included here are 'strays', who were married in another parish within the county of Powys, or in another county. There are also a few non-Powys 'strays' from adjoining counties, particularly some which may be connected with Powys families. For those researchers puzzled and confused by the thought of dealing with patronymics, when looking for their Welsh ancestors, a few are to be found here and are ' indicated by an asterisk. A simple study of these few examples may help in a search for others, although it must be said, that this is not so easy when the father's name is not given. I would like to thank all those members who have helped in anyway with the compilation of this booklet. A second collection is already in progress; please· send any contributions to me. ADRODDIAD BLYNYDDOL / ANNUAL REPORT 1981-82 MAXWELL FRASER BEQUEST & TREFIN ARCHDDERWYDD CYMRU BEQUEST 1982001 Ffynhonnell / Source The late Maxwell Fraser (Mrs Edgar Phillips), Slough, Berkshire. Blwyddyn / Year Adroddiad Blynyddol / Annual Report 1981-82 Disgrifiad / Description A brief description of this bequest appeared in last year's Annual Report. It consists of the manuscripts and papers of Maxwell Fraser (1902-80), authoress and travel writer, and of her husband, Edgar Phillips (`Trefin', 1889-1962), to be known at the testator's request as the `Maxwell Fraser Bequest' and the `Trefin Archdderwydd Cymru Bequest'. The `Maxwell Fraser Bequest' is by far the larger group and contains correspondence ; diaries with detailed entries, 1933-80, and a journal of a tour of Poland in 1930; drafts and typescripts of books, articles, and broadcast scripts; notes and material relating to the testator's researches in connection with these works including a large group relating to Lord and Lady Llanover and the Hall family ; circulars, newsletters and correspondence relating to the many societies of which the testator was a member (the Cambrian Archaeological Association, the International Arthurian Society, Kilvert Society, Offa's Dyke Association, P.E.N., Sherlock Holmes Society of London and other societies which reflect her interest in literature, history and archaeology, music and Celtic matters). There is a substantial amount of correspondence (letters received and copies of replies), much of it connected with the preparation of the testator's many books, articles and guides, and with her work preparing publicity material for the Great Western Railway and British Railways (Western Region) (including Holiday Haunts, 1929-62).

FFEDERASIWN CARNO, GLANTWYMYN A LLANBRYNMAIR GOVERNORS’ REPORT TO PARENTS YSGOL LLANBRYNMAIR A word from the Chairman 24th October 2018 Dear Parents/Guardians It is my pleasure to present the Annual Report to Parents of the Federation of Carno, Glantwymyn and Llanbrynmair on behalf of the governors and school staff again this year. With the support of the Welsh Government '21st Century Schools' grant, and the support of Carno Recreation Association a brand new school building is currently being built at the rear of the current school building at Carno, and the building work at Ysgol Glantwymyn has been finished, although the school is still awaiting for the outdoor area to be completed. The Education Authority are in early discussions with the Cylch Meithrin and Ysgol Llanbrynmair to discuss a possible small extension. These new developments will improve the children's teaching resources for future generations and protect education within our rural community. This was the aim of federating 4 years ago and we as a Governing Body are very glad to see the beginning of the building work. The three schools within the Federation were very active during the year between learning about the New Curriculum, sports events, the formation of a choir for a concert in the Tabernacl, visits to various shows and Educational workshops. As we reflect on the great successes last year we will look forward to continuing to develop the Federation. The collaboration and joint planning across the Federation sharing good practice contribute to raising standards across all three schools. I would like to thank the staff for their dedication and commitment to working together demonstrating flexibility when needed and to ensure that all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
