Bei AutoCult wurde nun der Porsche 924 Prototyp ausgeliefert und auch der VW 412 LE Limousine ist nun in beiden Farben lieferbar. Besonders beliebt waren der "Saphir", der 1979 mit attraktiver Zweifarblackierung vorgestellt wurde, und der 1980 erschienene "Chasseur". Er war ebenfalls zweifarbig und besonders üppig ausgestattet. Neben einer Leder-/Stoffpolsterung mit speziellem Design, bronzefarben getönten Scheiben und einem 6-Zylinder-Motor sollte ein mitgeliefertes Set mit 3 Jagdtaschen dieses Modell besonders für Jäger (frz: Chasseur) attraktiv machen. Beide Modelle waren bei Ford limitiert. Beim "Saphir" blieben von den produzierten 1000 Stück nur 600 in Deutschland, beim "Chasseur" gibt es keine offiziellen Zahlen, die Auflage dürfte aber etwas höher gewesen sein. Bei den BREKINA-Modellen sind beide ebenso limitiert.   • Hesketh 308, 1975
    Hesketh 308, 1975 1975 was the year in which James Hunt won his first Grand Prix, notably holding off Niki Lauda in the Ferrari 312T at Zandvoort, Holland. This was a race, which started in wet conditions, later changing to dry, requiring a change to slicks. It was Hunt who courageously took on slicks earlier than others when he realised there was an advantage to being on dry tyres a lap or two ahead of the opposition. This enabled him to get ahead and win the race. The somewhat outrageous team effort which began in 1973 was now firmly on the map, giving Hunt that vital confidence from his first GP win, in turn resulting in him being signed up for McLaren for 1976, the rest is history as they say. I first wanted to build a 1/12 model of this car when I saw John Shinton’s 1/43 example. I bought a kit to act as a reference and John supplied me with a few photos of the car in a state of renovation and some scale drawings. I built an exact monocoque from plasticard, using the scale drawings. The rollover bar was made from 3mm brass rod, which can be annealed on a gas cooker flame and then shaped more easily. The forward dashboard hoop was similarly made and the essential monocoque was complete. It was absolutely necessary to observe some of the complex angles of the tapering chassis and the inwardly inclined chassis sides towards the region of the footbox. The rollover bars were firmly secured inside the monocoque with epoxy resin.

    Forty years on, one-litre F3 screamers return to Monaco Four decades - less one week, but who’s counting? – after its last appearance as a contemporary class, one-litre Formula 3 made a triumphant return to the streets of Monaco, where it proved one of the highlights the ACM’s 7th Grand Prix Historique extravaganza on May 1/2. Tony Trimmer, who won the fi nal F1 support race of the era in 1970, in a Race Cars International-entered Brabham BT28, was there to witness the action, as was three-time World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, who won the fi rst (six years earlier to the day) in 1964, driving one of Ken Tyrrell’s Cooper-BMC T72s. While Stewart dominated, leaving Silvio Moser (Brabham-BMC BT6) and Mauro Bianchi (Alpine-Renault) way behind, Trimmer pipped fellow BT28 driver Jean-Pierre Cassegrain by 1.1 seconds, with fellow Britons Bev Bond (Lotus 59), the late Gerry Birrell (BT28) and Richard Scott (Chevron B17) leading the chase as the Ford MAE engine’s heyday drew to a close. This time round, with amateur historic racers rather than up-and-coming pros fi lling the grid, the lead battle was incredibly closely-fought for much of the distance. Switzerland’s Christian Traber (ex-Ian Walker Racing Brabham BT21) may have led all the way, but he had to drive defensively throughout to stave off fi rst Moscow-based Ulsterman Paul A plan for 1970 Monaco F3 winner McMorran (in the unique Crossle 17F originally intended for Birrell) and French class stalwart Francois Tony Trimmer to contest the 2010 Derossi (Chevron B17).
