School holiday activity programmes that operate out of Fire Stations across Hertfordshire during the school Easter and Summer holidays.

Primary Purpose: To tackle the tripling inequalities of: • Holiday Hunger • Holiday Isolation • Holiday Inactivity

Each day lasts four hours: Participant entry criteria: • Two hours of physical activity • Aged between 7-12 years • One hour of fun education • Eligible for free school meals • One hour of two-course nutritious cooked lunch

Why Hertfordshire?

• 10% of Hertfordshire population live in the county’s most deprived areas.

• 28,100 children in Hertfordshire live in the 10 most deprived areas.

• 14,388 children eligible for FSM

• 20% of schools in Hertfordshire have above the national average for FSM.

• During Summer 2018 pilot projects 85.7% of parents said agreed that it was harder to make ends meet during the school holidays. Delivery Partnership Fit Fed & Read Timeline

Easter 2018 - 2 x one week pilots Hatfield & Welywn Garden City Fire Stations 41 children, 130 attendances

Summer 2018 - 6 x four week pilots Hatfield, , , , & Fire Stations 149 children, 1153 attendances
