Welcome to the Annual Partners’ Forum and Celebration Lunch #HSPCelebration “A high-quality holiday activity programme ‐ including support with literacy ‐ in Hertfordshire’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, with a nutritious meal every day, free of charge.” What is Fit Fed & Read? School holiday activity programmes that operate out of Fire Stations across Hertfordshire during the school Easter and Summer holidays. Primary Purpose: To tackle the tripling inequalities of: • Holiday Hunger • Holiday Isolation • Holiday Inactivity Each day lasts four hours: Participant entry criteria: • Two hours of physical activity • Aged between 7-12 years • One hour of fun education • Eligible for free school meals • One hour of two-course nutritious cooked lunch Why Hertfordshire? • 10% of Hertfordshire population live in the county’s most deprived areas. • 28,100 children in Hertfordshire live in the 10 most deprived areas. • 14,388 children eligible for FSM • 20% of schools in Hertfordshire have above the national average for FSM. • During Summer 2018 pilot projects 85.7% of parents said agreed that it was harder to make ends meet during the school holidays.
