The friendship factor continues on the water when rule offenses are treated like “little white lies” because it really didn’t hurt anyone or “that guy never protests.” Another example are minor infractions on the water - your tiller extension brushes Contributors a mark. You know it because you felt it, but nobody saw it, so you keep going. You Boat US Dray Murray have a close port / starboard crossing and the starboard boat has to avoid at the last Scott Erwin Peter Nelson Kaden Glenwright Caleb Tarleton minute and yells at you to “do your turns!” But you keep going, because they didn’t Ron Holm Theresa White say the magic word (“protest”). All of a sudden, fairness becomes compromised and, oh look!, I’m not having fun anymore. When people stop having fun, they stop coming to regattas.
