Road Traffic Regulation (Weight Restriction) Order 2020 Article 1 Statutory Document No. 2020/0126 c Road Traffic Regulation Act 1985 ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION (WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER 2020 Made: 27 March 2020 Coming into Operation: 8 April 2020 The Department of Infrastructure, after complying with the requirements of paragraph 1 of Schedule 21 makes the following Order under section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1985. 1 Title This Order is the Road Traffic Regulation (Weight Restriction) Order 2020. 2 Commencement This Order comes into operation on 8 April 2020. 3 Interpretation In this Order – “Department” means the Department of Infrastructure; “emergency services’ vehicle” means — (a) an ambulance, fire brigade vehicle or police vehicle during such time as the vehicle is in actual use for any emergency purpose; (b) a motor vehicle or trailer during such time as it is in actual use by any coastguard service provided by the Department for the purposes of giving aid to persons in danger or vessels in distress on or near the coast; or (c) a motor vehicle or trailer during such time as it is in actual use for civil defence or bomb disposal purposes; and “motor vehicle” has the meaning given by section 65 of the Road Traffic Act 1985. 1 As required by section 4A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1985. c SD No.2020/0126 Page 1 Article 4 Road Traffic Regulation (Weight Restriction) Order 2020 4 Weight restriction A person must not cause or permit a motor vehicle to proceed on a road specified in the Schedule if the weight of the vehicle, whether laden or unladen, exceeds 3.5 tonnes. 5 Exemptions Paragraph 4 does not apply to — (a) an emergency services’ vehicle; (b) any such vehicles as may be used by a local authority in pursuance of their duties; and (c) such other exemptions that the Department may authorise in writing. 6 Revocation The Orders specified in column 2 are hereby revoked to the extent specified in column 3— SD No TITLE EXTENT 29.02.1956 The Traffic Restrictions (Amendment) Order 1956 Paragraph 4 10.03.1965 The Traffic Regulation (Douglas Head Marine The whole Order Drive) Order 1965 05.02.1982 Traffic Regulations (No 1) (Crellins Hill) Order 1982 The whole Order SD 424/94 D7 West Craig Loop Road (Andreas) (Weight The whole Order Restriction) Order 1994 SD 136/98 U39 Garey Road (Onchan) (Weight Restriction) The whole Order Order 1998 SD 558/10 Windsor Mount (Ramsey) (Weight Restriction) The whole Order Order 2010 Signed by authority of the Minister for Infrastructure MADE 27 MARCH 2020 J F ROBINSON Director of Highway Services Page 2 SD No.2020/0126 c Road Traffic Regulation (Weight Restriction) Order 2020 Article 6 c SD No.2020/0126 Page 3 Road Traffic Regulation (Weight Restriction) Order 2020 SCHEDULE SCHEDULE WEIGHT RESTRICTED ROADS [Article 4] PARISH ROAD Andreas D7 West Craig Loop Rd, entire length - between its two junctions with the A13 St Judes Road. Ramsey Windsor Mount between its junction with Ballacloan Road and its junction with Windsor Road. c SD No.2020/0126 Page 5 Explanatory Note Road Traffic Regulation (Weight Restriction) Order 2020 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the existing 2 tonnes weight limit to 3.5 tonnes maximum laden or unladen weight limit on roads in Andreas, Braddan, Douglas, Lezayre, Onchan and Ramsey.
