What People Say About Chiropractic
What people say about Chiropractic "I am very fortunate to have, so-to-speak, my in-house chiropractor, Dr. Franco Colombu, as my own personal chiropractor. So, I visit Franco regularly, and he comes over to my house. He adjusts my wife, my kids, me, everybody gets an adjustment. And we feel always great when Franco leaves. Even when I have athletic injuries he's always there for me, and helps me. So it's really terrific, and I know that first hand. That's why I always will be traveling around, all over the world, talking highly about the profession of chiropractic. You chiropractic doctors are really miracle workers, and that's why it's really great to have you here, part of the Arnold Classic. Because, like I said, the Arnold Classic and Fitness Weekend are about health and about fitness and preventive care." Arnold Schwarzenegger "If it were not for Chiropractic, I would not have won the gold medal." Dan O'Brien Decathlon Gold Medallist Appearing in films like The Patriot and Braveheart has taken its toll on Mel Gibson. "You get hurt all the time. All you gotta do is just like eight takes of running down a hill and you twist an ankle," the action pic veteran tells TV Guide Online. "I got a chiropractor to come along to the [Patriot] shoot, because they can actually stick you back together within 15 minutes. He used to come every other week, from Los Angeles to South Carolina spend a week and work on the entire crew. -

THE 1984 OLYMPIC GAMES 202 Carl Lewis Made Only a Cameo Appearance in the Long Jump
THE 1984 OLYMPIC GAMES 202 Carl Lewis made only a cameo appearance in the long jump. He raced down TRACK AND the runway once, leaped a couple of inches beyond 27 feet, far enough to qualify comfortably for the final, then left the Coliseum to rest on, and for, FIELD his laurels. Edwin Moses, a graduate of Morehouse University with a degree in physics, settled for a costarring role in the 400-meter hurdles. He did the physical work. He won the event for the 105th straight time, a flawless victory that was never in doubt; he broke 48 seconds for the 28th time, a feat the rest of the world had accomplished only five times; and he ran only a tenth of a second slower than he ran in 1976 when, at the age of 20, he won the gold medal in Montreal. He joined Paavo Nurmi in history, the only runners to win the same individual Olympic event twice—eight years apart. Danny Harris, an American teenager, came in second, and Harald Schmid, a West German veteran, the last man to defeat Moses, in 1977, finished third. Moses costarred not with his rivals, but with his lovely West German wife, Myrella. She did the emotional work. As the race approached, and the tele- vision camera zoomed in on her, she displayed every nuance of feeling from anxiety to anguish. She cried. She trembled. She buried her face in her hands. Myrella knew, and she showed, much more than he did, how much the race meant to her husband. -
Winter Olympics Code Breaker
Winter Olympics Code Breaker Amazing Winter Olympic Stories • In the 1988 Winter Olympics, Jamaica entered its first team in the bobsleigh, which was amazing as they had to practise without snow in Jamaica! It was such a great story that it inspired the 1993 film ‘Cool Runnings’. • From 1929 until 1988, Team GB had no ski jumpers; that was until Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards came along in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada. He came last but was a British ski jump record holder, going on to become a TV personality and stunt skier. In 2016, the film ‘Eddie the Eagle’ was released telling his story. • Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are two of Team GB’s most famous Winter Olympic stars, having won the gold medal in 1984 with their ‘Bolero’ ice dance. They were world champions three times, British Champions seven times and both have MBEs. They now underpin the TV show ‘Dancing on Ice’. Olympic Culture in Soviet Uzbekistan 1951-1991: International Prestige and Local Heroes
Olympic Culture in Soviet Uzbekistan 1951-1991: International Prestige and Local Heroes Sevket Akyildiz Introduction Uzbekistan was officially established in 1924 by the victorious Bolsheviks as part of a larger union-wide „Soviet people‟ building project. To legitimate and consolidate Moscow‟s rule the southern, largely Muslim, Asian territories (including Uzbekistan) were reorganized under the national delimitation processes of the 1920s and 1930s. Establishing the Soviet republics from the territory formerly known as Turkestan was based upon language, economics, history, culture and ethnicity. Soviet identity building was a dual process fostering state-civic institutions and identity and local national (ethnic) republic identity and interests. The creation of the national republics was part of the Soviet policy of multiculturalism best described a mixed-salad model (and is similar to the British multicultural society model). (Soviet ethnographers termed ethnicity as nationality.) Uzbekistan is situated within Central Asia, a region that the Russians term “Middle Asia and Kazakhstan” – some Western authors also term it “Inner Asia”. Uzbekistan stretches south-east from the Aral Sea towards the Pamir Mountains, and shares borders with Afghanistan (137km), Kazakhstan (2,203km), Kyrgyzstan (1,099km), Tajikistan (1,161km), and Turkmenistan (1,161km). The climate is continental, with hot summers and cold winters. The Uzbeks are a Turkic-speaking people largely Turkic (and Mongol) by descent - and predominately Sunni (Hanafi) Muslim by religious practice. Between 1917 and 1985 the population of Uzbekistan rose from approximately 5 million to 18 million people. However, Uzbekistan was a Soviet multicultural society, and during the Soviet period it contained more than 1.5 million Russian settlers and also included Karakalpaks, Kazakhs, Tajik, Tatars, and several of Stalin‟s deported peoples. -
