The OP is like a thesis statement in an essay. It provides the direction for an essay and lets the reader know what the writer is trying to prove. Similarly, an OP provides direction for a unit of study in a classroom. It lets the student know what you as a teacher are trying to prove. All the measurement topics, curriculum standards and vocabulary that you teach should come back to the Organizing Principle in some way. The Measurement Topic reflects the standards created by the Department of Education and the Curriculum Standards reflect the benchmarks created by the Department of Education. The Measurement Topics and the Curriculum Standards have been chunked together to allow for a Resource Page to immediately follow the standards/content. The Resource Page includes textbook alignment, Safari Montage links, websites, Document Based Question (DBQ) lesson plans, teacher hints, assessment and Activities aligned to the Florida Literacy Standards. These are only examples of some of the items you can use to teach the unit. Considering the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards please keep in mind the Department of Education has determined the content that will be delivered to students. Please find in the curriculum maps the pacing expected when delivering the content. Additionally, the Florida Literacy Standards are complimentary to the NGSS standards we are expected to teach. -

My first act as Color Guard commander was at Point interesting TPleasant WVA. I had great time with the Color Guard from the near articles about the by states. My host for the 3 days was Steve Hart from WVA. Steve is from my Home town in Maryland. My second trip was to South Carolina to Kings Revolutionary War and Mountain. My host there was Mark Anthony we had members from North Car- information olina and South Carolina and from Georgia and Florida we had a great time at regarding the Kings Mountain. Went home for needed rest over 2000 miles on that trip. That activities of your chapter weekend was back in the car to VA and the Tomb of the Unknown. Went home to get with the MD Color Guard for a trip to Yorktown VA for Yorktown Day. and/or state color guards Went back home for events in MD for Nov. and Dec. Back to VA for the Battle of Great Bridge VA. In January I was back to SC for the Battle of Cowpens - again had a good time in SC. -

United States Constitution draft annotated by Abraham Baldwin Descriptive Summary Repository: Georgia Historical Society Creator: Baldwin, Abraham, 1754-1807. Title: United States Constitution draft annotated by Abraham Baldwin Dates: 1787 Extent: 0.05 cubic feet (2 oversize folders) Identification: MS 1703 Biographical/Historical Note Abraham Baldwin was born on November 22, 1754, in North Guilford, Connecticut. Baldwin studied theology at Yale and graduated in 1772. Beginning in 1775, he served as a tutor at Yale until 1777 when he was appointed chaplain of the 2nd Connecticut Regiment and later brigade chaplain. After the Revolutionary War Baldwin studied law. In 1784, Baldwin was admitted to the Georgia bar and moved to Augusta, Georgia, where he practiced law and began his political career. He was a member of the Commons House of Assembly that passed an act for the establishment of the University of Georgia in 1785. Baldwin served as the first president of the institution from 1786-1801. Baldwin held a seat in the Georgia Assembly until 1789 and in 1785 he was elected to the Congress of the Confederation. In 1787, he served as one of four delegates from Georgia to the Constitutional Convention. The other delegates were William Few, Jr., William Houston, and William L. Pierce. Of the Georgia delegates, only Abraham Baldwin and William Few signed the United States Constitution. During the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Baldwin participated in two of the six "Grand Committees" that were assembled. The first committee was appointed on July 2 and was made up of one delegate from each state (known as the First Committee of Eleven). -

TEACHER NOTES GEORGIA STUDIES Historic Understandings SS8H1 Evaluate the impact of European exploration and settlement on American Indians in Georgia. People inhabited Georgia long before its official “founding” on February 12, 1733. The land that became our state was occupied by several different groups for over 12,000 years. The intent of this standard is for students to recognize the long-standing occupation of the region that became Georgia by American Indians and the ways in which their culture was impacted as the Europeans sought control of the region. -

Simply scanning and grabbing the answers to the questions will not go far to help them digest the material in order to perform well on the EOG assessment. SS8H1 1. They came for wealth and glory. They had heard rumors of wealth equaling the Aztecs. 2. Hernando DeSoto or Hernando de Soto. 3. Exposure to disease and attack from Spanish soldiers was devastating to the Native American populations. 4. The Franciscan monks wanted to establish control over the Native Americans by converting them to Christianity. The monks taught the Native Americans the Spanish language and had them do farming and other labor to support the missions. 5. The Mississippian era was characterized by chiefdoms. This is also the period of mound building. SS8H2 1. The video specifically lists relief for poor, welfare, and defense. The colony was established to give the “worthy poor” a fresh start in the new colony and provide a military buffer between Spanish Florida and the English colonies. 2. James Edward Oglethorpe was the founder of the Georgia colony. He gave the inspiration for the Georgia colony as a haven for poor British citizens. He helped get a charter approved from King George II. He sailed with the first settlers and acted as the unofficial governor of the colony for 10 years. He led in the defense against the Spanish and negotiated with the Yamacraw Indians. -
