Many years ago, I, together with other members of the recreation committee, obtained and oversaw the renovation of the ‘hut’ in Easterford Road (a lot of the labour was voluntary, especially the painting!) and set up a Youth Club, which was successful for several years. Until recently I was a member of the committee overseeing the present use by the Easterford Pre-School children. I helped to procure and fence the small play area between Glebe and Thorne Roads, which KPC and the Youth Forum have kitted out with play equipment in recent years. This latest project was initiated by the YF, which was set up 8 years ago and with which I continue to be actively involved, attending meetings and helping at the Discos, etc. I also served as a school governor for St Mary’s School for four years.
