MCGA exercise none at SWC. Returned to depot Sat 28 May All areas inc. Beeleigh 6 hr patrol. 2 officers (Harmer/Chapman). Very quiet. No launching at Steeple Bay or Millbeach. Weather SE 2-3, Good Vis. Broken cloud none Sun 29 May St Lawrence to Colliers 4 hr patrol. 2 Officers (Harmer/Chapman) Very quiet. Forecast not good, Reach inc. Maylandsea but in reality not bad at all. Weather NE 2 – 3 rising N/NW5-6 later. Good vis. Sat 4 June Mayland Creek, Lone patrol. Weather: Overcast, light winds NW 2 – 3. Chilly. Brightening Checked Regulations for the Millbeach & Maldon later.Early dinghy races at BSC, lots of sailing boats and very few motor Prevention of Collisions at Sea craft. Had to speak to D XXXX of HB regarding speed. Regulations 1972. Will write to Mr XXXX explaining this situation. No immunity. Sun 5 June All areas from 4.5hr Patrol. Two Officers (Harmer/Mackshea). Early racing at BSC, lots of Tollesbury to sailing boats on the water. Busy day at SWC, equipment by Thorpe Bay none Fullbridge Marine. Looked in to Tollesbury, no powered vessels operating. Mayland Creek: Spoke to several users regarding speed area. Patrolled up to Fullbridge to gauge which vessels were about. Back down to Millbeach, all okay. Mayland Creek and finish. Refuelled before securing for the day. Sat 11 June cancelled Weather forecast predicts grey, overcast with showers Rain mid afternoon Sat 18 June Mayland Creek, Weather: Overcast, chilly. SW2-3. HW1200hrs. In company with Jim Maylandsea, Brunt. On water by 1030hrs, patrol up to Mayland Creek, then up to No follow ups from patrol APPENDIX 2 Date Areas patrolled Comments Actions Millbeach & Maldon Maylandsea. Quiet. Back to Mayland Creek and spoke to a group of Park (Park Holidays UK) 5 coming out of Millbeach. Ashore at 1430hrs. A quiet day. Sun 19 June All areas except Weather: High pressure Broken cloud. SW3-4 HW1240hrs.With JB. Met Tollesbury with SWC to discuss areas and potential problems. On water 1100hrs. Complete statement proforma Patrolled up to Mayland Creek to observe for a while, then up to regarding prosecution of Mr P XXXX Maylandsea. Stopped Individual for excessive speed in Mayland Creek details obtained. Patrolled up to Maldon and spoke to individual DOB Ditto Mr XXXXXX regarding speed and byelaw areas. Verbal warning given due to the short period of time he was observed. Stopped a powerboat full of people at Discuss witness statement with Jim Millbeach and discussed the byelaw areas. Down to Mayland Creek and Brunt prior to his A/L. observed a number of PWC’s chasing about. Stopped another individual for excessive speed over several hundred metres and obtained details for prosecution. Fuel getting low – finished patrol at 1500hrs. River much quieter at this time. Sat 25 June All areas Weather: Flat calm. Broken cloud, threat of heavy rain later. HW16.43Hrs. Patrol undertaken by CPO. On water 1230hrs. Patrolled up none to Maldon. Heybridge Regatta, a lot of activity on the water. Spoke to a number of river users regarding acceptable speed. Down to Mayland Creek, very few river users in this area. Down to Tollesbury and spoke to two adult males with children regarding speed. North Osea and spoke to a group of males in a powerboat regarding speed. Thunder and lightning at approx. 1520 hrs, no activity on water. Patrol ends. Sat 2 July Patrol cancelled: Weather heavy overcast with showers SW6. Discussed options with Stone Watersports Club. End patrol at 1415hrs. Sat 16 July All Areas Weather: High Pressure, warm, clear. Light SW. Flat calm. On patrol with CPO Afloat by 0900 at SWC. Patrolled up to Mayland Creek and discussed speed limit area with two river users who were just off Steeple Bay CP ramp. Carried on up to Maylandsea and thenon to Millbeach, Maldon and on up to Beeleigh. Patrolled down to Tollesbury then on to Osea and Millbeach. Lots of sailing dinghies about, but very few motor vessels. HW1100Hrs. Spent time after HW patrolling Mayland Creek and Osea then end at Approx 1345hrs. Cleaned, washed and refuelled PWC’s. Finished 1500hrs Sun 17 July All Areas Weather: High Pressure. Warm, clear, flat calm. As yesterday, on patrol with I. Mudge. Afloat 0950hrs. Patrolled up to Mayland creek and spoke **Investigate cost of body worn to three PWC’s regarding speed. Patrolled down to Osea then onto St Lawrence. Asked a windsurfer if he was okay as he was sitting on his board, all okay. Spoke to the crew of SB R regarding operational areas etc. Then onto Bradwell and over to Tollesbury before heading back. Patrol ends at 18:30hrs. Wash down PWC’s, refuel and returned to storage at 2000hrs. Sun 31 July All Areas Patrol carried out by Essex Police Marine Unit (5 hours). ** Statement and details of one PC Paul Rawson defendant sent to River Bailiff for consideration in respect of speeding offence Discuss prosecution with solicitor Sun 14 Mayland Creek, Patrol carried out by CPO. Weather: Overcast, broken cloud. Light August Millbeach and Maldon winds, flat calm. **Complete statement with details HW1010HRS. Patrolled up to Maldon, past Osea and Millbeach. Offered of offence and submit to Councils assistance to two lads in a capsized dinghy, but they were okay. Patrolled solicitor for prosecution back to Mayland Creek and observed a fast moving boat.
