Part 3 Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis, Please Accept My Dandavat The Lord's Warrior Incarnation - Part 3 Date: 2011-05-10 Author: Narahari Krishna das Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis, Please accept my dandavat pranams. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva. In the previous two offerings titled, "The Lord's Warrior Incarnation", we had seen that 1) Lord Parashurama brings us back to the path of Absolute Truth whenever we go astray. In Sat-yuga, He killed the demoniac kings using chopper. Now in Kaliyuga, the Lord destroys our anarthas through guru, sadhu and shastra as the keenly sharpened chopper. 2) By doing so He is saving us from suffering hellish condition of perpetual pains and miseries. 3) His glories are unlimited. We had discussed two of His qualities - He is very obedient and strict disciple. At the same time, He is very merciful spiritual master. In this concluding offering let us continue to relish one more divine quality of Lord Parashurama. Beyond the modes of nature:- Whatever activities the Lord does in His incarnations are beyond the modes of nature. The Lord is not influenced by passion and ignorance like an ordinary person is. When the sage Jamadagni was killed by Kartaviryarjuna's sons, Lord Parashurama took a vow to eliminate the kshatriya dynasties 21 times and He accomplished it. Many people think that He did this out of vengence (to take revenge for His father's death). However, the Bhagavata Purana explains that His father's death was only a plea for His eternal mission. tad raktena nadeem ghoraam / abrahmanya-bhayaavahaam hetum krtvaa pitr-vadham / kshatre 'mangala-kaarini trih-sapta-krtvah prithiveem / kritvaa nihkshatriyaam prabhuh samanta-pancake cakre / shonitodaan hradaan nava "With the blood of the bodies of these sons, Lord Parashurama created a ghastly river, which brought great fear to the kings who had no respect for brahminical culture. Because the kshatriyas, the men of power in government, were performing sinful activities, Lord Parashurama, on the plea of retaliating for the murder of His father, rid all the kshatriyas from the face of the earth twenty-one times. Indeed, in the place known as Samanta-pancaka he created nine lakes filled with their blood." (Srimad Bhagavatam 9.16.18- 19) A normal person retaliates with vengence when his near and dear ones are killed. However for the Lord who is transcendental and who is the Father of everyone, there is no reason to retaliate. So His anger was due to bent of His mind to protect His saintly devotees and so it is not influenced by passion or ignorance. Srila Prabhupada vividly brings out this point in the commentary as follows. "Parashurama is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and His eternal mission is paritraanaaya saadhuunaam vinaashaaya ca dushkrtaam (Bg 4.8] - to protect the devotees and annihilate the miscreants. To kill all the sinful men is one among the tasks of the incarnation of Godhead. Lord Parashurama killed all the kshatriyas twenty-one times consecutively because they were disobedient to the brahminical culture. That the kshatriyas had killed his father was only a plea; the real fact is that because the kshatriyas, the ruling class, had become polluted, their position was inauspicious. Brahminical culture is enjoined in the shaastra, especially in Bhagavad-gita (caatur varnyam mayaa srshtam guna-karma-vibhaagashah [Bg 4.13])." It is important to note that Lord Parashurama did not kill all the rulers whimsically. He punished only those who were disobedient to brahminical culture. Kings like Janaka and Dasaratha were abiding by rules of the Lord and so Lord Parashurama did not punish them. Now a question may arise, "Kali yuga is filled with fallen kshatriyas who are worse than mlecchas. Why the Lord is not incarnating to kill them?" Srila Prabhupada answers as follows in the same purport. "According to the laws of nature, whether at the time of Parashurama or at the present, if the government becomes irresponsible and sinful, not caring for brahminical culture, there will certainly be an incarnation of God like Parashurama to create devastation by fire, famine, pestilence or some other calamity. Whenever the government disrespects the supremacy of the Personality of Godhead and fails to protect the institution of varnashrama dharma, it will certainly have to face such catastrophes as formerly brought about by Lord Parashurama." The Mahabharata states that the kshatriya women had to marry brahmanas to further the kshatriya race as few/no kings were left after Lord Parashurama's program of extermination. The system of brahminical culture can be revived by the the congregational chanting of the Holy Names Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare by which humanity can receive the blessings of Lord Parashurama. While explaining the meaning of the maha mantra Srila Prabhupada explained that the word 'Rama' in the mantra refers to 1. Lord Krishna who is Radha Ramana (one who gives pleasure to Srimati Radha). 2. It refers to Dasarathi Rama who gave pleasure to Hanuman, Mother Sita and other devotees. 3. It refers to Balarama who gives spiritual strength to all the devotees of Lord Krishna. 4. It also refers to Lord Parashurama who protected the rishis, brahmanas and delighted the Bhrgu lineage (Bhrgu nandana). So the sweetness of Lord Krishna, the bliss of Lord Rama, the spiritual strength of Lord Balarama and the power and protection of Lord Parashurama are fully invested in the mahamantra and by chanting it sincerely we can receive all the blessings and protection of the Lord in His various forms. In Bhagavata purana, Sri Sukadeva Goswami concludes the narration of Parashurama avatara by this beautiful sloka evam bhrgushu visvaatmaa / bhagavaan harir ishvarah avateerya param bhaaram / bhuvo'han bahusho' nrpaan "In this way the Supreme soul, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Lord and the supreme controller, descended as an incarnation in the Bhrgu dynasty and released the universe from the burden of undesirable kings by killing them many times." (Srimad Bhagavatam 9.16.27) Let us all pray for the mercy of our beloved Gurudeva and Srila Prabhupada and Lord Parashurama so that we'll get a little taste for chanting the Lord's holy names and relishing His different incarnations. Thank you very much. Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva, Narahari Krishna Dasa, Chennai..

It was originally written in Ovi form (a Marathi Metre) in Marathi by Shri Saraswati Gangadhar, whose ancestor Sayamdev had personally lived and served with devotion, Guru Narasimha Saraswati, an incarnation of Shri Dattatreya about 600 years ago. It was later translated into Sanskrit by Shri Vasudevananda Saraswati (Tembye Swamy), who is regarded by many as an incarnation of Shri Dattatreya and who lived about a hundred years ago. It has been later translated into several other languages. This volume is regarded as Divine; capable of blessing one and all who read it with respect and is placed with images of Gods and adored in almost all devotees' houses of Maharashtra. It is much respected and is very popular like Vedas, Ramayan, Mahabharat, Bhagawat and other Puranas in Sanskrit and Dnyaneshwari, Dasbodh, Ekanathi Bhagawat etc. in Marathi. In the last century, it has spread its influence far and wide and legion are the experiences got by those devotees who read it regularly with respect. Shri Dattatreya had taken birth at the Ashram of Atri and Anasuya in very very old times (Krita Yug) and it is believed that his two incarnations namely Shripada Shri Vallabha and Shri Narasimha Saraswati had taken place in the Deccan in about the 14th and 15th Century (A.D.) respectively. Shri Manikya Prabhu, Shri Akkalkot Maharaj, Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi and Shri Vasudevananda Saraswati are some of the great Saints who are considered as the Avatars (incarnations) or Amsas (taking a part of His powers) of Shri Dattatreya.

    || OM namo bhagavate vasudevaya OM || 1 After having taken avatara, the Supreme personality Lord Rama and the other smart sons of the King started growing well in the palatial homes. For the Lord who is forever complete in time, space and attributes, the growth was only in the blurred eyes of the worldly people. 2 The father (Dasharatha) obtained the highest happiness watching his four sons daily; The King, glancing at the moon like face of Lord Rama, obtained bliss like joy. 3 The mothers, city dwellers, ministers, ladies of the chambers and all other citizens were also very pleased and satisfied with inner happiness (at seeing the Lord). 4 In the lineage of the glowing moon, Indra was born as 'Gadhi'; He had a son named Vishwamitra; With the power of boons, he had become a Brahmin and was the well wisher of the world; He arrived at Ayodhya. 5 Lord Rama was prayed upon by Vishwamitra to protect his yagnas; Though the father was very scared, the Lord, who is worshipped by Siddhas, got sent along with the sage; Along with Lakshmana, He arrived at the hermitage of the Siddhas. 6 Only to bless Sage Vishwamitra, Lord Rama, along with Lakshmana, accepted Astras from the sage; Brahma and other devatas, who were the presiding dieties of those weapons, came down directly and bowed to Lord Rama. 7 After that, Lord Rama quickly killed the Rakshashi Thataka, who was indestructible by anyone apart from HIm due to Brahma's boons, with his arrow; Subahu, who could not be killed by anyone due to Rudra's boons, was killed by the Lord and consequently He protected the Yajna of Vishwamitra.

  • The Avatara & Nine Planetary Temples Trip India Trip 2020
The Avatara & Nine Planetary Temples Trip India Trip 2020 Tirupati and Chennai 05 to 19 February 2020 This trip is dedicated to the Avatara Temples of Lord Vishnu near Tirupati and Nine Planetary Temples of Chennai. Avatara are incarnations of Lord Vishnu each related to a planet. The trip includes a visit to Tirumala temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, which is on the seven hills owned by Lord Varaha who is the Rahu incarnation (Avatara) of Lord Vishnu. Each Avatara is connected to a planet. The incarnation temples we will visit are Sri Rama (Sun), Krishna (Moon), Narasimha (Mars), Parashurama (Venus), Varaha (Rahu) and Matsaya (Ketu). We will also visit other powerful temples for Goddess Lakshmi, Sri Vishnu and Lord Shiva and many rare temples. In Chennai, we will visit the nine planetary temples. Each of the temples will be visited on its appropriate day (e.g. Thursday for Jupiter Temple) and abhishekas have been organized at all the nine planetary temples. This is going to be a very powerful experience. The costs of the Abhishekha will be shared ( see below in costs). We will also visit the Sapta Rishi, seven sages temples dedicated to Lord of Mylapore, Chennai. The seven sages all meditated and did personal purification rituals at these temples. It’s the first time that a Vedic astrology group is visiting many of these temples. We will do rituals, pujas, abhishekas and prayer ceremonies during this pilgrimage – these costs will be shared where we do a group program. You also need to give Dakshina to the priests who perform the rituals.

Sriman Madhva has said this Himself in many of His compositions in the concluding remarks as yasya trinyuditAni vedavachane which points to Balittha Sukta. While the first two incarnations fought mostly by physical force to destroy the evil, the third one has important task of leading the good souls in the right path.

TATVAVAADA PHILOSOPHY MADHWA BRAHMINS This is the official blog of Madhwa Brahmins orkut community. Some of the important topics discussed in the orkut community can be found here. Check out our blog archives on the right side. We Madhwa Brahmins (brAhmaNas) are the brahmins who follow the Tatvavaada (dvaita) Philosophy, revived and propagated by the Vaishnava saint and philosopher Shri Madhwacharya (1238-1317 CE). Even though we are now scattered all around the world, we originally hail from places in Karnataka and the neighboring states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our main dialects are Kannada, Tulu, Marathi, Telugu and Konkani. Our principal preceptor Shri Madhwacharya (also known by the names Poornaprajna and Anandateertha) is the 22nd commentator on the Brahma suutra of Sri Veda Vyasa. He is the third avatar of Sri Mukhya PraaNa, the god of life, as given in the baLittha sUkta of the Rig Veda, his first two avatars being Sri Hanumanta and Sri Bheemasena. abhramaM bhangarahitaM ajaDaM vimalaM sadA | AnandateerthaM atulaM bhaje tApatrayApaham || hari sarvOttama vAyu jeevOttama Biography of Sriman Madhvacharya Hare Sreenivasa Srimad Ananda Teertha, also known as Poornaprajna and Madhvacharya, is the propagator of the doctrine of Tattvavada. He is the last of the great Acharyas of Vedanta, and is also the 22nd commentator on the Brahma-Sûtra of Veda Vyasa. His doctrine asserts that the differences are eternally real, and that hence there is more than one absolute real, and that Hari (Vishnu) is the only entity praised in the Shrutis and their adjuncts. Thus, he always identifies the Brahman of the Upanishads with Vishnu, and forcefully argues against the dichotomy of Shrutis (tattvaavedaka / atattvaavedaka) as claimed by Sri Sankaracharya, saying that such arbitration of apaurusheya scripture is unacceptable both logically and spiritually.
