Welcome

Welcome to our final residents’ evening of 2020. It goes with saying that this has been a trying year for all of us. We hope that you and you family have remained safe and well and we are glad to be welcoming you back to meet us in person. we have been working hard to keep the Future Olympia masterplan on track and we are delighted to say that we remain on target for completion in 2024. Our contractors, Laing O’Rourke have implemented social distancing measures on site and we have been able to safely continue construction. We have also secured tenancy agreements with hotels Citizen M and Hyatt and live performance operator AEG. Negotiations with all three had started before the pandemic but it is encouraging that they have committed to Olympia in such a difficult time. At this event, we will be providing a round-up of the planning changes and build programme from 2020 and will be looking ahead to next year and beyond. As always, we welcome your feedback. Please contact Louise on 07539 096459 or on [email protected] with any questions or comments. The Masterplan

'DETAILED' CONSENT Summary of Updated Designs Central

Rationalisation of commercial floor space, omission of 1 level of basement.

Incorporation of retail units.

Creation of central kitchen floor space to serve food and beverage.

Minor increase in area on Level 01 Mezzanine to support exhibition back of house spaces.

Incorporation of production kitchen on Level 01 Mezzanine.

Minor increase in office floor space on Level 02 Mezzanine. G Gate Theatre

We revisited the design of G Gate following feedback from the consultations before planning permission for the masterplan was granted. Working with a new theatre production company, we found a design solution that means we can accommodate our future tenant and rotate the building 180 degrees.

This means that the wall facing Hammersmith Road will no longer be the back of the theatre but the public areas of the building and, as a result, we have been able to break up the façade with windows and activity. We have also changed the space above the theatre from restaurant to office. Original Scheme

Over the last year, we have simplified and refined the façade of the multi storey car park in response to feedback from future hotel tenants, Hyatt, who recently signed an agreement to occupy the eastern part of the building. Last month, we presented our proposals to introduce a performing arts school in the western half of the building. A recap of the information presented at the last public consultation in October is on the following boards.

The BRIT School is the leading performing and creative arts school in the UK, and one of the foremost such schools in Europe.

The BRIT School deliver students into industry beyond the global music artists such as , , , Katie Melua, Ella Eyre and , and now have a wealth of former students who are filmmakers, DJs, composers, visual artists, poets, authors, entrepreneurs, digital designers, theatre makers, teachers and practitioners.

BRIT Kids embodies the ethos of The BRIT School and is very much part of the highly reputable BRIT family. BRIT Kids is a safe, friendly place for children to explore their creativity and to challenge what they think the performing and creative arts can give them. Our values are ‘Creativity, Challenge, Community’.

The BRIT School’s mission is to break down barriers to the arts and our Community Collaborations Programme supports the artistic learning of the young people we welcome as students, bringing our nine artistic strands to those children and adults across and South London with no or limited access to the arts.

Feedback from community groups who we’ve worked with (some over many years) gives a clear indication of the positive impact of the project on those involved and the need for this to continue to grow: 100% of charity partners, participants and students felt connected as a group. 94% of charity partners and workshop leaders would be keen to work on a similar project in the future. 84% of participants and BRIT students improved their confidence and self esteem. The Programme is in high demand from local groups and we operate a waiting list of other organisations that are keen for us to work with them.

Feedback from a participating organisation: “Good communication and fun, was a great form of reassurance and confidence development during the workshops which worked for both our members and staff who took part in the project” Caseworker for Mind Croydon. Alpha Plus

A detailed Travel Plan will be developed as part of the application. It will be communicated at regular school events, in the school newsletter and on the school website. This will include reminders of the strict parking policy in the area around Olympia.

During the 1st year the school will complete measures for the TfL STARS Bronze accreditation with the view of obtaining the Gold accreditation three years after opening.

Olympia Way

The Laing O’Rourke and Future Olympia teams are committed to the safe delivery of Olympia Masterplan. From this month onwards, Olympia Way has become a live logistics and construction yard with HGVs manoeuvring and reversing on the road. In order to ensure the safe operation of the site, we have taken the decision to restrict public vehicle access to Olympia Way. Construction and exhibition traffic will continue to have access to the road. This will take congestion away from Blythe Road, helping local traffic to flow more freely and confine disruption. A pedestrian route will be maintained for continued access to the exhibition halls and the station, and cyclists will be invited to dismount to use the route.

Hammersmith Road

From January next year, the ‘pit lane’ outside Olympia Central on Hammersmith Road will be extended to run in front of Olympia National. This is necessary so that lorries will be able to safely load and unload to the cranes within the buildings. As a result of this and the east bound cycle lane, it would not be safe to establish a temporary pedestrian route on this side of the road while the pit lane is in place. This will also necessitate the Hammersmith Road Central Hoarding Line temporary closure of bus stop ‘K’.
