JENNIFER ANGUS

Jennifer Angus Creates Art with Insects at the Paine New Exhibition Opens February 6

In February, artist Jennifer Angus will create a dramatic, site-specific art installation within the Main Gallery at the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh. Using exotic insects as her medium, Angus designs elaborate geometric patterns and narratives comprised of thousands of preserved specimens. Her artwork explores themes of beauty, ornamentation, natural history collections, the relationship between humans and insects, and the important role insects play in ecosystems. Her installation at the Paine will encompass the gallery with carefully arranged insects on the walls and intriguing sculptures and furniture within the room. A professor of design studies at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, Angus has exhibited her work at museums and galleries around the world and has authored a fantasy novel and several short stories related to the insect worlds she explores in her installations. The Other Side: An Installation by JenniferAngus will be on view at the Paine in Oshkosh from February 6 through May 30, 2021. Admittance is by reservation only.
