Clean Guys of Comedy Series Announcement Clean Guys Entertainment And NCM® Fathom Events Plan Upcoming Cinema Comedy Series For 2013 Centennial, Colo. – Jan. 17, 2013 - NCM® Fathom Events, the alternative entertainment division of National CineMedia (NASDAQ: NCMI), is collaborating with Clean Guys Entertainment to develop a series of comedy presentations for U.S. movie theaters to debut in 2013. The planned event series will be a cinematic showcase featuring clean standup from some of the biggest names in the comedy business and the hottest up-and-coming comics on the circuit. These first-ever, clean movie theater comedy events designed for families will leave audiences laughing uproariously with humor that promises not to offend. Executive producers for Clean Guys Entertainment are comedian Dave Coulier (“Full House,” “America’s Most Talented Kids,” “America’s Funniest People”), Jim Janicek (ABC’s TGIF comedy block; specials and programming for ABC, NBC, Disney, Comcast, The Muppets, ABC Kids; and Baby Einstein videos) and Mike Sears (“A Warrior’s Heart” feature film, “Eco Challenge” TV events, TBS’ “Dinner and a Movie,” NBC’s “Name Your Adventure”). Coulier, Janicek and Sears are working with the NCM Fathom Events team to create the new in-theater comedy series. “If you’ve been to a stand-up comedy show in the last few years, you know the trend is foul-mouthed and cringe inducing,” said Coulier. “Everybody likes to laugh and we do, too. We’ve heard such a loud demand from audiences for clean content. Big name comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan and Brian Regan don’t need to be dirty to be funny. I believe fans want a dependable place where they can find alternatives for a high-quality, clean comedy experience. I’ve met so many extraordinary clean comedians while on tour, that I realized we just had to create an outlet where America can rediscover quality comedy for the entire family. We’re offering a whole new, very big way for both top name and up-and-coming comedians to reach the world. Movie theaters are a great place to reach existing fans and build new ones.” “We believe fans will go to the movie theaters just like they would a tour event to enjoy extraordinary comedy entertainment,” added Janicek. “With today’s immersive screens and luxury seats, it’s the next best thing to being at the comedy club. At a fraction of the cost, entire families can attend.” Coulier, Janicek and Sears are developing entertainment that is funny without the filth. Many of the world’s beloved comic icons have performed without the crutch of offensive language, including Seinfeld, Bob Newhart, Ellen DeGeneres, Lilly Tomlin, Jay Leno, Bill Cosby, Johnny Carson and Bob Hope. “We plan to welcome some of the best known and unknown comedy talent in the world to showcase their humor in theaters nationwide. What comedian doesn’t want that?” said Sears. “No other place can offer this type of exposure.” “We’re proud to be the first to bring a new series of comedy events to movie theaters that can be enjoyed by the entire family. Funny is funny and these guys are funny,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president for NCM Fathom Events. “With the support of the exhibition industry, Fathom has helped redefine the movie theater as we know it, bringing people together as a community to experience amazing events they might not otherwise be able to see,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of Business Development for NCM Fathom Events. Fathom Events is a leader in the alternative entertainment industry, offering a variety of one-of-a-kind entertainment events in movie theaters nationwide since 2002 including live, high-definition performances of the Metropolitan Opera, sports, music, Broadway and many other unique entertainment presentations. About Clean Guys Entertainment Together with founding partner, funny man, Dave Coulier (“Full House”), the Clean Guys Entertainment’s mission is to create a comic “hot spot” that is trusted for big laughs without offensive language. • Q&A with Comedian Jim Gaffigan
Q&A with Comedian Jim Gaffigan Written by Melissa Larsen Before he takes the stage at Talking Stick Resort Jan. 29 through Jan. 31 (with a fourth show was just added at 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 30), Jim Gaffigan, author, actor and comedian, chatted with AZFoothills.com about what audiences can expect, his writing process and what’s on deck for 2015. What does it feel like to have to add a fourth show because tickets are in such high demand? It is great. Any time I have a reason to spend a another day in Arizona in January, I’m excited. It is always very flattering. It feels like a combination of a lot of amazing things. It is Super Bowl week so there are people arriving on Wednesday who don’t even know about the show who will probably want to go. What can the audience expect? It is hard to describe my act without making it sound bad. I am observational comedian. I focus on the mundane. An exploration of the id. What we do and what we really want to do. I am that thought in the morning where you don’t want to get up and you just want to eat bacon all day. How do you keep it fresh for yourself? Always writing. Standup comedy, I love it so much. You really are the writer, producer and performer in a lot of ways. New material is the lifeblood of any comedian. Coming out with new material, it is so fun. There is no script you have to stick to.

  • 'Jim Gaffigan Show' Treats Catholicism Seriously, but in a Funny
‘Jim Gaffigan Show’ treats Catholicism seriously, but in a funny way By Maria Macina and John Mulderig Catholic News Service NEW YORK – Faith and comedy can make for an uncomfortable combination. Wits who engage in this volatile mix obviously need to avoid outright irreverence or the trivialization of the sacred. Yet they also have to be wary of artificial restraint since all genuine humor depends, to some degree at least, on a sense of realism and recognition. So plaudits are due to the folks behind the new TV Land program “The Jim Gaffigan Show.” Remarkably, they’ve managed to strike just the right balance between the weighty topic of religious devotion and the comically challenging situations to which the exercise of Catholic piety can all too often lead in today’s mixed-up world. The single-camera series, which airs 10-10:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesdays, stars the stand-up comedian of the title playing a fictionalized version of himself. Taking its lead from Gaffigan’s popular fact-based routine, the show finds his alter ego sharing a two-bedroom apartment in New York City with his wife, Jeannie (Ashley Williams), and their five young children. Written and executive produced by Gaffigan in collaboration with the real Jeannie, the program portrays the ongoing juggling act the screen couple must engage in to meet the competing demands of family, faith and Jim’s professional life as an entertainer. Jim’s outsized love of food is another recurring theme and source of laughs. Episodes often feature surprise guest appearances by the likes of Chris Rock, Macaulay Culkin and Janeane Garofalo.

HELL IS A GAME SHOW: AN ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION OF THE AFTERLIFE ______________________________ A Thesis Presented to The Honors Tutorial College Ohio University _____________________________ In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for Graduation from the Honors Tutorial College with the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film _____________________________ by Zachary Stoner May 2018 Stoner 1 “Hell is other people,” shouts Joseph Garcin in Jean-Paul Sartre’s 1944 play Huis Clos (No Exit). It was this sentiment that summarizes the entire play: man can never escape the judgment of others and in turn is always in the hell of his own self-judgment. It is this quote, in its various forms and parodies, that would come back to haunt me in ironic ways. But it was also this play that took me down the path that would eventually lead me to the creation of my film: Hell is a Game Show. This project starts before Sartre, with my junior year film Near Sighted: The Usually Alone Interview - specifically with a supporting actress by the name of Evie Weir. Her acting was smart and funny, a natural with the kind of dark comedy that I had become so fond of writing. There’s an old Hollywood expression that goes “directing is ninety percent casting,” and I planned to take that a step further and write my thesis film around a talented actress that had a great knowledge of the craft. I had just finished watching two dark comedies: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) and Seven Psychopaths (2012). Both feature comedy that relies heavily on horrible murder or torture.
