Being a tough, strong and oxidation resistant element, cobalt is widely used in the manufacture of industrial products and materials, especially in the industrial alloys of aircraft turbines or gas turbine generators. • It is not only the star of the market for consumer electronics, but also for electric cars, which are closely linked to the availability of cobalt. • In addition, it is widely used in research and medicine. 16 MINERALS • Niobium (direct producers), • origen Brazil What is Niobium and what is it for? • It is a metal that is found in the mineral Niobite and is named in honor of the Greek goddess Níobe. "Its grace" is that it can become a "superconductor" and is resistant to corrosion. • Furthermore, it is estimated that the addition of 200 grams of Niobium to one ton of steel can increase its strength by up to 30%. • In the future it will be "more important than oil", hence it is considered a strategic metal.
