Trout in the Classroom is a partnership between the Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU), Pennsylvania District 7 of the PA Trappers Associations and the Mifflinburg Area School District. This program is in its fifth year. This year, our students raised 39 Brook Trout from eggs in early November to release on May 7th. The release site was Laurel Run behind the West End Fairgrounds. They were about 3 inches long. In a separate tangible experience (live capture), these students also received a mini-lesson on macroinvertabrates and amphibians. This is a unit of study in the Biotechnology area of the Invention, Innovation and Product Development Course taught by Mr. Stenger at the High School.
