Ond yn yr wythnosau diwethaf, mae ei byd wedi newid yn gyfan gwbl. Mae Jaclyn, yn fam gariadus i’w phlant Guto (Owain Huw) a Tesni (Lois-Meleri Jones), gwraig ffyddlon ac ymroddedig i’w gŵr Gerwyn (Aled Pugh) a chwaer gefnogol i’w brawd Dylan (Gareth Jewell) ac mae hi a’i theulu wedi bod yng Nghwmderi am flwyddyn gyfan. Ond rydym ni wedi dysgu mwy yn ddiweddar am weithgareddau amheus ei brawd gyda chyffuriau - ac mae Jaclyn yn cael ei thynnu mewn i’w byd tywyll sy’n gadael ei bywyd yn y fantol. Dyma’r actores Mali Harries yn son am ei blwyddyn yng Nghwmderi a’r heriau sy’n wynebu ei chymeriad Jaclyn a’i theulu. Wyt ti wedi mwynhau dy flwyddyn gyntaf yn Pobol y Cwm? Dw i’n thrilled i fod yn Pobol y Cwm! Dw i wedi bod yn actio ers dros 20 mlynedd a byth wedi bod yn rhan o’r gyfres. Mae’r Parris yn dod â lot o sŵn ac egni i Gwmderi. Mae e wedi bod yn lot o sbort ac mae’r storiâu wedi bod yn grêt. Mae Jaclyn wedi cael blwyddyn eitha’ jacôs yn setlo mewn i Gwmderi ond mae ganddi hi stori fawr ar hyn o bryd sy’n wir wedi twli hi mas o’i comfort zone. Wyt ti’n mwynhau gweithio gyda dy deulu ‘ar sgrin’? Mae’n hollol lyfli. Fel arfer os wyt ti’n ymuno a chyfres, ti’n ymuno fel unigolyn a ti’n orfod dod i nabod pawb ac mae hyn yn cymryd amser ond ymunom ni fel teulu o bump. Ac mae’r lefel o chwarae a sŵn yn rhoi pen tost i aelodau eraill i’r cast weithiau! Mae pawb yn gefnogol iawn a da ni’n dysgu wrth ein gilydd. Mae Ows (Guto) yn gerddorol iawn ac wedi bod mewn sawl sioe ond dyma’r tro cyntaf iddo fe fod ar y teledu. Mae Lois (Tesni) yn brofiadol iawn - felly mae hi’n rhannu ei phrofiadau hi. Mae Aled (Gerwyn) yn grêt - comedïwr yw Aled a chawsom ni ein golygfa ddifrifol gyntaf mewn blwyddyn jysd cyn cyfnod y Nadolig. Sut mae stori fawr Jaclyn yn effeithio ar ddeinamig y teulu? Mae teulu yn bwysig i Jaclyn ac mae hi’n berson ‘straight’ iawn. Mae hi’n glynu at Gerwyn - maen nhw wedi bod gyda’i gilydd am gyfnod hir a dim ond 19 oedd hi yn cael yr efeilliaid Tesni a Guto ac mae hi’n glynu yn dynn atyn nhw hefyd. Da ni wedi cael blwyddyn heb gael unrhyw wrthdaro ond mae’r celwyddau yn dechrau dod a da ni’n cael cyfle i weithio ar olygfeydd dwys iawn. Mae’n dda cael chwarae momentau tywyll - wedi’r cyfan dyw bywyd byth yn rhosynnau i gyd. Mae gan Jaclyn berthynas agos iawn gyda'i brawd Dylan. Dros yr wythnosau diwethaf mae’r gwylwyr wedi dod i nabod mwy am Dylan ac efallai rôl Jaclyn yn ei orffennol dodgy. Ydy Jaclyn yn cael ei thynnu mewn i drafferthion Dylan unwaith eto? Mae Jaclyn yn agos iawn at ei brawd bach Dylan a da ni’n gwybod bod Dyl yn ynghlwm â’r byd cyffuriau. Mae Jaclyn yn gwybod am hanes Dyl ac mae’n gorfod cuddio’r gwir oddi wrth Gerwyn ac mae’n dechrau cwympo’n ddarnau. Mae Dylan wedi gorfodi Jessie i lyncu drygs ac mae hi’n marw. Mae Jaclyn yn cael ei galw i’r tŷ gan Dylan ac yn gweld Jessie ac yn gorfod helpu fe i guddio’r corff. Mae’r holl beth yn ormod i Jaclyn ac mae hi eisiau mynd at yr heddlu a chyfadde’r cwbl. Mae cweryl rhwng Dyl a Jaclyn. Mae hi’n credu bod Dyl dim yn ddigon o ddyn i sortio pethau mas ei hunan ac fe sydd wrth wraidd y rheswm pam mae bywyd Jaclyn wedi mynd ar chwâl. Rydym yn gyfarwydd â dy weld ti mewn cyfresi drama megis Y Gwyll ac Un Bore Mercher. Ydy gweithio ar opera sebon yn wahanol i weithio ar gyfres ddrama? Mae’n hollol wahanol mewn pob ffordd. Ar ddrama, chi’n gweithio am gyfnod o chwech i ddeg wythnos - mae’n llai o amser, felly chi’n gallu rhoi mwy o egni ac amser mewn i’r peth. Gyda Pobol y Cwm mae fel peiriant sy’n symud a chi’n gorfod neidio arno - fel peiriant rhedeg. Mae lot llai o amser - mewn drama chi’n ffilmio rhwng pedair neu chwe golygfa yn ystod diwrnod o ffilmio - gyda Pobol y Cwm, chi’n ffilmio 11 - 14. Mae rhaid dysgu’r leins yn glou a neud e’n gywir y tro cyntaf. Ond wi’n joio hynny - ti byth yn segur a wastod yn symud ymlaen. Mae lot o wahaniaethau ond dwi’n caru’r ddau beth. But over the last few weeks, her life has changed completely. Jaclyn is a devoted mother to her children Guto (Owain Huw) and Tesni (Lois Meleri-Jones), a faithful and loving wife to her husband Gerwyn (Aled Pugh) and a supportive sister to her brother Dylan (Gareth Jewell) and she and her family have lived in Cwmderi for an entire year. We have recently learned more about her brother’s involvement in drug dealing and Jaclyn is dragged into his dark world with her life left in the balance. Mali Harries talks about her year in Cwmderi and the challenges that face her character Jaclyn and the Parri family. Have you enjoyed your first year on Pobol y Cwm? I am thrilled to be in Pobol y Cwm. I have been an actor for more than 20 years but have never been a part of the series. The Parris bring a lot of noise and energy to Cwmderi. It has been a lot of fun and the storylines have been great. Jaclyn has had quite a relaxed year settling in to Cwmderi but she has a big story at the moment which has thrown her out of her comfort zone. Do you enjoy working with your on-screen family? It is absolutely lovely. Normally, if you join a series, you join as an individual and you have to get to know everybody and this takes time. But we joined as a family of five. The level of noise and messing about gives the rest of the cast a bit of a headache sometimes! Everybody has been very supportive, and we learn from each other. Ows (Guto) is very musical and he has been in several shows, but this is the first time for him to be on television. Lois (Tesni) is very experienced – so she shares her experiences. Aled (Gerwyn) is great. Aled is a comedian and just before Christmas, we had our first really serious scene together in a year. How does Jaclyn’s storyline affect the family dynamic? Family is important to Jaclyn and she is a very straight person. She clings to Gerwyn – they have been together for a long time and she was only 19 when she had the twins Tesni and Guto – and she clings on tightly to them too. We have had a year without any major quarrels but now the lies are starting, and we get the opportunity to work on some very intense scenes. It is good to be able to play the dark moments – after all, life is never always a bed of roses. Jaclyn is very close to her brother Dylan. Over the last few weeks, viewers have come to know more about Dylan and perhaps the role Jaclyn has played in his dodgy past. Is Jaclyn being dragged in to Dylan’s problems again? Jaclyn is very close to her little brother Dylan and we know that Dyl is involved in the world of drugs. Jaclyn knows what Dylan has done and she has had to hide the truth from Gerwyn and she’s starting to fall apart. Dylan has forced Jessie to swallow drugs and she dies. Jaclyn is called to the house by Dylan and sees Jessie – she has to help him hide the body. The whole thing is too much for Jaclyn and she wants to admit everything to the police. There is an argument between Dyl and Jaclyn. She thinks Dyl is not man enough to sort things out for himself and he is the reason why her life is falling apart. We are used to seeing you in dramas such as Y Gwyll/Hinterland and Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith. Is working on a soap different to working on a drama series? It is completely different in every way. In a drama, you work for a period of six to 10 weeks – it’s a shorter time span, so you can put more time and energy into it.
