Work to be undertaken following October 2019 inspection 1) MUGA: • Goal posts – work ongoing and undersides of top panels need to be rubbed down and repainted • Need to check that tennis net and frame in working order • Brambles in far-right hand corner to be cleared • MUGA fencing starting to rust – will need to be monitored but some areas needing work now • Surface area will need to be cleared of all moss and debris Spring 2020 • Re-painting of lines to be undertaken Spring/Summer 2020 - condition of surface to be monitored as starting to deteriorate • Various surface areas around the outer perimeter of the MUGA need levelling 2) Recreation Ground fencing: • Much of the timber is rotting or starting to rot and many holes have been created in the fencing mesh ➢ It is recommended that quotes are gained for complete replacement of the fencing - additionally the maintenance gate into the recreation ground, despite much work undertaken on it, cannot swing shut ➢ If the gate was locked and used purely for access by contractors and the school, another pedestrian gate could be made for recreational use (must ensure accessibility for all users is taken into consideration) 3) Maintenance gate from path (next to the kissing gate): • Does not have the 12mm gap as required – needs to be adjusted from the hinge side and moved over to allow this to happen 4) Signs: Slight damage to sign into the recreation ground – can be rectified when all notices consolidated into one sign. Review financial year 2020/2021 5) Play tunnel: • One bolt missing on bridge slat • Timber rotting at tunnel entrance – to be cleared out and filled with appropriate wood filler • Wooden supports to be monitored re any rotting timber – can be covered at the base to prevent further damage from strimming 6) Swings: Area to be covered with wood chippings once work on the Horse Chestnut tree is completed b. Feedback on response to request to cut back hedging adjacent to the recreation ground behind the swings c. Update on grant application d. Update re quotes for fencing and gate 13. Action Points and updates from previous meetings: a. Washford Road Safety (including Wig Wag timings and additional signage) – update on any actions undertaken b. Feedback re signage for Blue Anchor regarding water conditions c. Update on trees overhanging the highway within the parish d.     Press release ASTRA CONNECT SOLUTION SELECTED FOR UK SATELLITE PILOT Exmoor villages chosen for Government-funded pilot project Luxembourg, 12 February 2015 - SES (NYSE Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) today announced that its Astra Connect for Communities solution will be used in a UK Government-funded Market Test Pilot (MTP) project. These Pilot projects aim to assess which technologies and commercial models are best suited to deliver superfast broadband to the final five percent of households in the UK that currently do not have access to high-speed internet. SES is working with Satellite Internet, the UK-based Internet Service Provider, to deliver its satellite broadband solution to the villages of Simonsbath and Luxborough in south-west England. The villages, each with a population of about 200 residents and located in Exmoor National Park, will benefit from a Satellite Distribution Node (SDN) and a Wi-Fi head-end technology providing homes with internet speeds of up to 25 Mbps. Last year SES successfully rolled out several Astra Connect for Communities networks in Germany’s Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Baden-Wurttemberg states. Another 35 networks are due to be completed by the end of June 2015 in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Satellite Internet was selected for this project by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport in June 2014, having applied for funding from Broadband Delivery UK’s GBP 10 million Innovation Fund. The provider has worked closely with Connecting Devon and Somerset, a public-private partnership of six local authorities set up to deliver next generation broadband infrastructure to areas where commercial investment plans are absent.
