John Charnley Wing Private Patient Services Excellence in Orthopaedic Care Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust operates across three hospital sites; Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Leigh Infirmary and Wrightington Hospital – our Centre of Excellence for orthopaedic surgery. Wrightington Hospital has a reputation for housing outstandingly talented surgeons who are at the forefront of joint replacement techniques and research. As a result our John Charnley Wing provides the best possible private patient care with excellent clinical outcomes in a relaxed and comfortable patient friendly setting. Wrightington is a highly specialised Hospital where the surgeons only perform planned orthopaedic operations with over 1000 hip and knee replacements carried out each year. All of our medical staff are meticulously trained and highly skilled in all aspects of orthopaedic treatment, resulting in excellent clinical outcomes and patient care. The technological support is of the highest quality, with state of the art operating theatres and thorough onsite diagnostics services. The operating theatres are specially equipped for orthopaedic procedures, and incorporate technology originally developed right here at Wrightington. On top of this, your consultant will be able to refer you to state-of-the-art, private diagnostics services including on-site X-Ray department and MRI Scanner. The John Charnley Wing The recently renovated John Charnley Wing, located in Wrightington Hospital, is comprised of 16 en suite, attractively furnished ground floor rooms which are comprehensively equipped and include a nurse call system. All rooms have direct telephone lines and televisions with access to various Sky Channels. Personal electronic devices such as mobile phones, iPads, laptops and radios are all allowed at the patients’ own risk. A complementary newspaper of your choice will be delivered to your room daily and a regular trolley service is available to purchase sweets, drinks, magazines and basic toiletries. Visiting Hours Visitors are welcome at any time between 11am and 8pm. On occasion, for clinical reasons, or to allow you the appropriate resting time, visiting may be restricted. We recognise that you may wish to have a friend or relative staying close by. Your Dining Meal times are as follows: Breakfast 8am Lunch 12 noon Dinner 5pm We have protected mealtimes, between 12 noon and 1pm for lunch, and 5pm and 6pm for dinner. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated. Guests can also use the dining room but advanced notification is recommended. Located just half a mile from junction 27 of the M6 motorway, the hospital is easily accessible by road. Directions from the North Follow the M6 South bound heading for Wigan. At Junction 27, Standish, leave motorway via the slip road. At the roundabout, follow signs for Ormskirk and Parbold on the A5209. Once on the A5209, follow signs for Wrightington Hospital, which are clearly visible. The hospital is approximately a half mile from junction 27 of the M6 on your left. Directions from the South Follow the M6 North bound heading for Wigan. At Junction 27, Standish, leave the motorway via the slip road, keeping in the left hand lane. At the roundabout, follow signs for Ormskirk and Parbold on the A5209. Once on the A5209, follow signs for Wrightington Hospital, which are clearly visible. The hospital is approximately a half mile from junction 27 of the M6 on your left.
