The dynamics and challenges encountered during the massive undertaking of rebuilding homes, hospitals, schools and other infrastructure, while striving to empower those who survived to reshape their future and redevelop their way of life, provide an important understanding of the disaster-recovery process in Aceh and Nias. In light of this, within the pages of this book, BRR would like to share those experiences and the lessons learned as a small contribution to return the favor to the world for the invaluable support it contributed to building Aceh and Nias back better and safer; as a history of the humanitarian journey of a united world. I am proud, that we can share the experiences, knowledge, and lessons with our fellow countries. It is hoped that what we have done can be a standard, a benchmark, for similar efforts at the national and international levels.     Large scale tsunami simulation for 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami using parallel GPU computing *Fritz Sihombing1) and Marco Torbol2) 1), 2) School of Urban Environmental Engineering, UNIST, South Korea 1) 2) [email protected] [email protected] ABSTRACT This study couples two different numerical schemes, finite different method and smoothed particle hydrodynamic (SPH) method to more accurately assess the impact of tsunami over a coastline. The model performs large scale tsunami simulation of 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. To handle the SPH model general-purpose computing on graphics processing units manage the computation. The result of the simulation is validated against the observation data of the tsunami. In this research, Banda Aceh city, in Indonesia is chosen as the observation location. COMCOT, a tsunami wave simulation engine, simulates the wave generation and propagation on the open ocean. Instead, DualSPHysics, a SPH solver, simulates the near coast wave propagation and the tsunami wave inundation. The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami resulted in a catastrophic event in the Southeast Asian region. The simulation performed in this study provides information about tsunami propagation and tsunami inundation on the coastline with an accuracy greater than available by the current state of the art. This information is important for damage mitigation as well as comprehensive resilient disaster management planning. This work can be expanded to perform probabilistic tsunami hazard analysis. Challenges arose in several areas, such as: the handling of the complex bathymetry and topography, and the computational cost of tsunami simulation. Recent advances of numerical methods as well as computational tools encouraged further improvements on tsunami simulation research.

Sampai saat ini penelitian masih terfokus di pesisir timur dan pegunungan tengah Aceh, Pesisir barat Aceh belum pernah diteliti. Pesisir barat Aceh merupakan wilayah yang memiliki bentangalam kars cukup luas, dan memiliki potensi gua yang mungkin digunakan sebagai lokasi hunian pada masa lalu. Salah satu metode yang digunakan adalah memprediksi keberadaan gua dengan peta topografi, peta geologi, serta digital elevation model (DEM). Selain itu, hasil inventarisasi gua yang pernah dilakukan di wilayah pesisir barat Aceh juga digunakan sebagai data awal untuk memperoleh sebaran gua dan ceruk. Pada penelitian ini lingkup wilayah yang disurvei adalah Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Tiga parameter gua hunian, yaitu morfologi dan genesa, lingkungan, serta kandungan arkeologis, digunakan untuk memperoleh gambaran potensi masing-masing gua. Sebelas gua dan ceruk yang telah ditemukan menunjukkan adanya tiga buah gua berpotensi sebagai lokasi hunian dan diteliti lebih lanjut, empat gua berpotensi sebagai lokasi hunian tetapi tidak berpotensi untuk diteliti, dan empat gua berkategori tidak potensial sebagai lokasi hunian. Tourism is one of the primary secsectors that is expected to increase the regional governmentnt income. Therefore there is a need to observe the factors that affect thee ssuccessfulness of tourism factors and products offered. Touourism products can be tourist destinations, where the characteristics of thathat particular destination can affect the decisio ns made byy tthe tourist to return the place again. The characteristics of tourism in Aceh can be analyzed by using biplot analysis. Meanwhnwhile, the effects of tourism characteristics on the number of tourists in AAceh from the year 2008 until 2013 is analyzed using panelel data regression analysis that is approached by Fixed Effext Model (FEMM). Based on the biplot graph, the cities that are superiorr in their number of all tourism products are Sabang and Banda Aceh. CitieCities other than these two cities tend to have a lower numberr oof their tourism products. The biplot graphcanexplainthe relationship bebetween the variables of tourism products by 83.8%. Basseded on the model of fixed effect panel data,Aceh tourismproductsthat affeaffect the number of tourists in Aceh is the number of accomommodations, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Fixed effect model explailain correlation between the variables of tourism productstoto the number of tourists in Aceh by 78.8%.     BAB II PROFIL KABUPATEN ACEH BESAR 2.1. WILAYAH ADMINISTRASI 2.1.1. Letak Geografis Secara geografis Kabupaten Aceh Besar terletak pada 503’1,2”- 5045’9,007” Lintang Utara dan 95055’43,6” - 94059’50,13” Bujur Timur. Sedangkan secara administrasi Kabupaten Aceh Besar memiliki batas-batas wilayah sebagai berikut: Sebelah Utara : berbatasan dengan Selat Malaka, dan Kota Banda Aceh; Sebelah Selatan : berbatasan dengan Kabupaten Aceh Jaya; Sebelah Timur : Berbatasan dengan Kabupaten Pidie; dan Sebelah Barat : Berbatasan dengan Samudera Hindia. Kabupaten Aceh Besar memiliki luas wilayah seluas 290.350,73 Ha. Sebagian besar wilayahnya berada di daratan dan sebagian kecil berada di kepulauan. Secara administratif Kabupaten Aceh Besar memiliki 23 kecamatan. Keberadaan Kabupaten Aceh Besar sebagai pintu gerbang utama telah ditunjang sarana transportasi yang cukup memadai seperti: Jalan Nasional Arteri Primer Banda Aceh - Medan serta Jalan Kolektor Primer Banda Aceh – Meulaboh. Disamping itu, ditunjang pula prasarana transportasi Bandar Udara Internasional Iskandar Muda di Blang Bintang, Pelabuhan Malahayati di Krueng Raya. Disisi lain Kabupaten Aceh Besar berbatasan langsung dengan Kota Banda Aceh, yang menyebabkan Kabupaten Aceh Besar sebagai penyangga dari Kota Banda Aceh, diantaranya dalam kebutuhan perumahan. Sejalan dengan potensi letak dan posisi Kabupaten Aceh Besar yang demikian strategis, menjadikan Kabupaten Aceh Besar berpeluang tumbuh dan berkembang cepat.
