He has risen. He has risen. Alleluia. Happy Easter everybody, may the risen Lord be at the centre of this wonderful day when over two thousand years ago Jesus conquered death through his victory on the cross for our salvation and eternal life. Last year just before Mothering Sunday we went into lockdown for four months. I can recall that in one of my weekly reflections just before Easter I said that not even COVID could stop the resurrection of Jesus. And I have hung on to that thought from that day forward because it gave me a great deal of hope and trust that our saviour who always points to God was still very active in our lives, even in lockdown. I hope you have a wonderful celebration today with family and friends and don’t forget that Easter time is the most wonderful reminder of a creative, redeeming God who loves us so much that he gave us Jesus. What a wonderful gift. The dawn service is always special at St Martin’s and the sun rising on the stained-glass windows in the chapel adds to the intimacy and holy atmosphere many of us experience, not to mention the delicious breakfast that follows. A reminder that the church is worth seeing if you are not at the 9 am service, as the Easter garden is breathtaking. May God’s peace be with you all. Rev’d Canon Mara Rector

Rev’d (Fr) Tony Tamblyn - Anzac Day Our dear Tony was meant to preach this Anzac Day after writing a sermon for last year's Anzac Day which was never preached because of COVID. This year it cannot be preached by Tony because he is with God, and it is a great honour that Julie has asked me to preach the sermon he wrote as Tony’s party gift to us, and indeed it is. It’s a very moving, powerful sermon. Rev’d Canon Mara

Thought for the Week from Mothers union Australia Sunday 4 April 2021

Resurrection glory New Life starts here! So many enticing promises from so many St Martin’s schemes, programmes… but nothing is simple or easy. Even going to an exercise class takes courage, a little death like the Movie Club humiliation of putting the wrong foot first. St Paul, the Third Tuesday of persecutor turned advocate and theological adviser, knew what each month that was like. Conversion was one thing, building his credibility NEXT OUTING: quite another. Paul went into the desert for two years. Perhaps 20th April 2021 we need more and Holy Weeks, or recovery from times of oppression or suffering to walk in newness of life – free at last!
