It has also used the government's rich natural and cultural environment together with the tourism industry to create sizeable benefits. Dr. Celia Kiram, Commissioner of Philippine Sports Commission discussed the Philippine's rich water-based geographical environment and the government's focus on the career development of children and juveniles. The Philippines government organizes series of junior lifeguard and sail boat making courses, providing job opportunities, in the hope that these young people will go on to give back to society and breathe new life into city development. As with many rapidly developing economies, Chinese Taipei has been looking closely at how to best use the tangible or intangible assets left behind from hosting sports events. Professor Yeh Kung-ting from National Taiwan Sport University takes the well known Dragon Boat competition as an example of how it is possible to combine a traditional festival and competitive sport to attract visitors, providing local governments with incomes and boosting local economic development. Hòa Bình Province, as with Taitung County or Penghu County, is renowned for its rich array of natural and cultural resources and has recognized that a proper combination of competitions and local culture would have a major impact on the development of sports tourism; Tainan City is a model for how to combine sport and popular culture, as promotional materials for the 2019 WSBC U-12 Baseball World Cup included Pokemon for the first time, with impressive results.
