    ABRUZZO A “communications highway” in copper and fibre optic cables Abruzzo has taken measures to upgrade its telecommunications and IT systems. Telephone exchanges have been modernised in order to improve quality in communications and, in an effort to improve the fixed and mobile telephone systems, 28,000 kilometres of copper cables and about 2,000 kilometres of fibre optic cables have been laid. Finally, 8,000 ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network) gateways have been opened up to increase the number of Internet services available and facilitate the exchange of data and images. New material for production processes In order to help companies to innovate their technology, in 1996 the L’Aquila branch of the National Institute for the Physics of Matter (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica della Materia) set up a research laboratory: CASTI (Centre for Scientific and Technological Assistance to Companies). Since its foundation, the Centre has been assisting firms wishing to use innovative components in their production processes, carrying out studies on the composition and microstructure of materials. This type of research is also applied industrially in certain aspects of quality and production process control. CASTI has electronic microscopes capable of observing a few atoms at a time and instruments that can treat extremely thin (monomolecular) layers to produce materials with various specific properties. Thanks to this equipment, experiments can be carried out at over 1,000° or close to absolute zero, in a vacuum or at pressures of several thousand atmospheres. The Centre has 15 researchers and attracts large amounts of research investment. Trieste 58 2016 57/83 XII 2016 ISSN: 0335-1576 LE ORCHIDACEAE DELLA PROVINCIA DI CHIETI (ABRUZZO) AMELIO PEZZETTA Via Monteperalba 34 – 34149 Trieste; e-mail: [email protected] Riassunto – Il territorio della provincia di Chieti (regione Abruzzo) misura 2.592 km² e occupa da nord a sud l'area com- presa tra le valli dei fiumi Pescara e Trigno, mentre da sud-ovest a nord-ovest lo spartiacque di vari massicci montuosi lo separa da altre province. Nel complesso è caratterizzato da una grande eterogeneità ambientale che consente l'attec- chimento di molte specie vegetali. Nel presente lavoro è riportato l’elenco floristico di tutte le Orchidacee comprendenti 88 taxa e 21 ibridi. A sua volta l'analisi corologica evidenzia la prevalenza degli elementi mediterranei seguita da quelli eurasiatici. Parole chiave: Chieti, Orchidaceae, check-list provinciale, elementi floristici. Abstract – The province of Chieti (Abruzzo Region) measuring 2,592 square kilometers and from north to south occupies the area between the valleys of the rivers Trigno and Pescara while from the south-west to north-west the watershed of several mountain ranges separating it from other provinces. In the complex it is characterized by a great diversity envi- ronment that allows the engraftment of many plant species. In this paper it contains a list of all the Orchids flora including 88 taxa and 21 hybrids. In turn chorological analysis highlights the prevalence of Mediterranean elements followed by those Eurasian.     Cities Call for a More Sustainable and Equitable European Future

    Cities call for a more sustainable and equitable European future An open letter to the European Council and its Member States Tuesday 30th April 2019, President of the European Council, Heads of States and Governments of the European Union Member States, We, the undersigned mayors and heads of local governments have come together to urge the Heads of States and Governments of the Member States to commit the European Union (EU) and all European institutions to a long-term climate strategy with the objective of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 – when they meet at the Future of Europe conference in Sibiu, Romania on 9 May, 2019. The urgency of the climate crisis requires immediate action, stepping up our climate ambition and pursuing every effort to keep global temperature rise below 1.5C by mid-century, as evidenced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5C. Current energy and climate policies in place globally, set the planet on a global warming pathway of 3°C. We are reminded of the inadequacy of our response to climate change, by the thousands of young people demonstrating each week on the streets of European cities - and around the world. We cannot let the status quo jeopardise their future and those of millions of European citizens. We owe it to the next generation to make more ambitious commitments to address climate change at all levels of government and in every aspect of European policy-making. We acknowledge and support the positions of the European Parliament and of the Commission to pursue net-zero emissions as the only viable option for the future of Europe and the world.

The guide to the itineraries to artistic craft wishes to tell of the magic spell of our villages and of people’s passion that animate these places through their work with the awareness that it is possible to hand down the memory only by drawing visitors close to this priceless heritage. The Chieti province, with its peculiarity of environment and traditions, is the ideal place to satisfy the curiosity of the attentive tourist. The four chosen itineraries are just a small part of what this territory has to offer. This guide is testimony to the interest the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti nurtures for this sector, so important because it is evidence of a civilization that proposes itself in such an evident way.

    Space and time evolution of the Abruzzo precipitation Bruno Di Lena1*, Fernando Antenucci1, Luigi Mariani2 Abstract: This study assesses the climate trends of precipitation in a large number of locations in the Abruzzo region for the period 1951-2009. It highlights the reduction of annual precipitation, starting in 1980, due to a significant decrease in winter rainfall amount. This phenomenon seems to be the mesoscale realisation of a more general process that concerns the European area as the result of the new configuration of the Atlantic circulation that has been established through the ’80 years of the 20th century. Keywords: Precipitation, trend, climate change, Westerlies, Abruzzo. Riassunto: Questo studio climatico valuta le tendenze evolutive delle precipitazioni in un consistente numero di località della regione Abruzzo per il periodo 1951-2009. Esso mette in evidenza la riduzione delle precipitazioni cumulate annue, a partire dal 1980, dovuta al calo significativo di quelle del periodo invernale. Questo fenomeno appare la realizzazione a mesoscala di un fenomeno più generale che riguarda l’area Europea e che costituisce il risultato della nuova configurazione della circolazione atlantica affermatasi nel corso degli anni ’80 del 20° secolo ed il cui effetto si manifesta soprattutto a livello invernale. Il Partito Democratico di Ortona esprime tutta la propria contrarietà alla proposta di trivellare il lago di Bomba da parte della Forest Oil, con sede a Denver, per la ricerca di petrolio e gas e per l'installazione di una raffineria – desolforatore nelle strette vicinanze del lago. La Forest Oil con sede a Denver, Colorado, USA ha avanzato richiesta di concessione di coltivazione in data 15 Marzo 2010. La concessione petrolifera “Monte Pallano” oggetto di questa lettera riguarda i comuni di Bomba, Archi, Roccascalegna, Torricella Peligna, Pennadomo, Atessa, Villa Santa Maria, Colledimezzo e Montebello sul Sangro. La documentazione presentata dalla Forest Oil è insoddisfacente e non garantisce, a nostro parere, la salute e l’incolumità delle persone per i seguenti motivi: 1) Il progetto della Forest Oil prevede di costruire una raffineria di trattamento gas e petrolio in una zona geologicamente instabile.     ALLEGATO capitolo 1 paragrafo 1.2.9 Infrastrutture viarie in fase di progettazione/realizzazione1 Fondovalle Sangro La S.S. 652 Fondo Valle Sangro svolge una importante funzione di collegamento con il Tirreno ed è percorsa da un flusso merci di notevole rilevanza grazie alla presenza delle aree produttive site in Val di Sangro. Inoltre collega i bacini sciistici dell’Alto Sangro verso l’Adriatico. L’asse stradale continua ad avere una soluzione di continuità nel tratto Fallo-Stazione di Gamberale che crea un rallentamento con relativo incremento dei costi e dell’inquinamento proprio nei Comuni a maggiore vocazione turistica. Il progetto di completamento risulta di primaria e strategica importanza per lo sviluppo economico delle aree interne del Molise e della Vallata del Sangro, dove sono attive industrie con un alto livello occupazionale. Il ripristino del tratto mancante consentirà di abbreviare i tempi di transito dei mezzi pesanti che trasportano merci tra le aree industriali della Val di Sangro in direzione Napoli e l’intero bacino tirreno. E' stata prevista la realizzazione di diverse opere, tra le quali: ricostruzione della carreggiata a due corsie, realizzazione del viadotto Sangro e della Galleria San Marco. L'intervento è stato inserito nel Piano Anas 2007-2011, ed in quello del 2008. Il 30 giugno del 2009 è stato sottoscritto il Contratto di Programma tra Ministero delle Infrastrutture a Anas SpA, per il Piano di Investimenti 2009. La recente programmazione per il completamento della Fondovalle Sangro è riportata nell'Atto Aggiuntivo all'Intesa Quadro tra il Governo e la Regione Abruzzo del 28 maggio 2009, dove è previsto un importo complessivo del progetto pari a 160 milioni di euro.
