The brazilian savannah, called Cerrado, has the richest flora among the world’s savannahs, and the State of Goiás comprises part of this biome. We present here a checklist for Goiás based on literature and specimens collected, with 18 species of Notonectidae, including new distribution records of Martarega membranacea White, 1879, and first records of Buenoa konta Nieser & Pelli, 1994; Buenoa pseudomutabilis Barbosa, Ribeiro & Nessimian, 2010; Buenoa tarsalis Truxal, 1953; Martarega bentoi Truxal, 1949 and Martarega brasiliensis Truxal, 1949 in the State. This checklist highlights a gap in the knowledge of Notonectidae and a great necessity of works with diversity of backswimmers in Goiás. Type specimens from the collection of true bugs (Hemiptera: Hetero- ptera) deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum, Prague, are currently being catalogued. In this part of the catalogue dealing with the fi ve basal infraorders, Enicocephalomorpha, Dipsocoromorpha, Nepomorpha, Gerro- morpha, and Leptopodomorpha, we present precise information about the types of 166 taxa belonging to the families Enicocephalidae (2 taxa), Schizo pteridae (1 taxon), Nepidae (4 taxa), Gelastocoridae (1 taxon), Corixidae (4 taxa), Micro- nectidae (7 taxa), Naucoridae (4 taxa), Potamocoridae (1 taxon), Aphelocheiridae (4 taxa), Notonectidae (2 taxa), Helotrephidae (6 taxa), Mesoveliidae (1 taxon), Hebridae (7 taxa), Hydrometridae (5 taxa), Macroveliidae (1 taxon), Veliidae (66 taxa), Gerridae (28 taxa), Saldidae (20 taxa), and Leptopodidae (2 taxa), including holotypes (or dissected parts of holotypes) of 42 taxa, and neotype of one taxon. The correct spelling of Brachymetra anduze Drake & Harris, 1942 and Naboandelus bergevini pygmaeus Linnavuori, 1971 (both Gerridae) is fi xed. Key words. Biodiversity Data Journal 4: e6732. doi: 10.3897/BDJ.4.e6732 Abstract Background The California Coastal Prairie has the highest biodiversity of North America's grasslands, but also has the highest percentage of urbanization. The most urbanized part of the California Coastal Prairie is its southernmost area, in Los Angeles County. This southernmost region, known as the Los Angeles Coastal Prairie, was historically dotted with vernal pools, and has a unique biodiverse composition. More than 99.5% of its estimated original 95 km2 (23,475 acres), as well as almost all its vernal pool complexes, have been lost to urbanization. The Madrona Marsh Preserve, in Torrance, California, safeguards approximately 18 hectares (44 acres) of Los Angeles Coastal Prairie and includes a complex of vernal pools. Its aquatic biodiversity had been studied, predominantly to genus level, but its terrestrial macro-invertebrates were virtually unknown, aside from butterfly, dragonfly, and damselfly observations. © Fiesler E, Drake T. The present study is a cladistic analysis of morphological characters focusing on the file of the mandible, the apices of the maxillae, the rupturing device on the maxillae, the internal structures of the mouthparts, and the external morphology of the labial segments as well as the distribution of labial sensilla in true water bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera, infraorder Nepomorpha). The study is based on data referring to sixty-two species representing all nepomorphan families (Heteroptera), together with one outgroup species representing the infraorders Gerromorpha (Mesoveliidae). The morphological data matrix consists of forty-eight characters. The present hypothesis supports the monophyly of the Nepomorpha and the monophyly of all families. The new modification in the systematic classification has been proposed: ((Nepidae + Belostomatidae), (Diaprepocoridae + Corixidae + Micronectidae), (Ochteridae + Gelastocoridae), Aphelocheiridae, Potamocoridae, Naucoridae, Notonectidae, and (Pleidae + Helotrephidae)). -
