VIRTUAL DUTCH AFRO LATIN DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP 2021

DALDC REALITY DANCE COMPETITION

RULES & REGULATIONS

SALSA Welcome Champions... Welcome to the Virtual DUTCH AFRO LATIN DANCE COMPETITION 2021 (DALDC). A new online Reality Dance Competition, brought to you by the NK Bachata & NK Salsa organization.

Our primary goal is to redefine the way we do competitions in the future. Our second objective is to facilitate a digital platform where all talents can present themselves to join this great competition.

During this COVID-19 Pandemic we made use of our time and created a new Platform to revolutionize the way we compete. A new era that opens up a world of possibilities but most of all: KEEPS US DANCING, CONNECTING AND DOING WHAT WE LOVE.

The DALDC is a Reality dance competition where competitors can join from anywhere in the country. Competitors will need to submit their choreography video, and videos that give us some insight into the competitor’s life and passion for dance. These videos will be used to create web episodes that will be broadcasted on our Video on Demand platform for the world to see. THE VISION OF THE All competitors will receive their scores virtually COMPETITION

In the rules for the SALSA CHAMPIONSHIP we repre- sent the most danced styles in the Netherlands and the fundamentals of the Salsa dance. We believe a competitor should be able to represent the funda- mentals but still have the freedom to explore different styles.

We have decided that each competitor is allowed to choose any style he or she wants to dance but the choreography has to have enough emphasis on the fundamentals of Salsa. With fundamentals, we mean being able to incorpo- rate enough basics, leading & following and authentic Kizomba movement & techniques.

This decision has been made in order to give every competitor the freedom and opportunity to share their interpretation and passion for Kizomba. We believe that this will stimulate growth of the dancers and the scene. We just want you to do what you love!

Pay attention! For couples, the majority of the dance has to be performed in a dance position (closed (=traditional dance position holding 1 hand + shoulder) or open (=holding 1 hand)). Ideally 80% of the dance is partnering (= dancing together in closed or open dance position) and 20% footwork (= dancing without touching each other).
