University of Maine: Maine split a pair of games against ranked teams in WHEA play this past week…In a rare Monday contest for the Black Bears, Maine defeated #8/9 Providence by the score of ARMY ROTC THREE STARS AWARD 3-2 behind goals from Kayla Kaluzny (2), Brittany Dougherty (11) and Jennie Gallo (11)…The win was Maine’s first over a ranked opponent since it defeated then #5 Boston College by the score of 5-3 on Nov. At the conclusion of each Hockey East league game, the Hockey East “Army ROTC 16, 2008…Gallo’s power play goal gave her six on the season which tied her for first in the nation in that Three Stars of The Game” are selected. Mary Restuccia, BC Jr. F Florence Schelling, NU Jr. G Northeastern University: The win over New Hampshire was the Huskies’ second-straight victory. It is the first time in school history that the Huskies have defeated UNH twice at New Hampshire in a single season. Northeastern blanked New Hampshire, 4-0, on Dec. 1...Two separate goaltenders have now led the Huskies to a victory over UNH. Florence Schelling shut the Wildcats out on Dec. 1 and Leah Sulyma earned the win on Sunday. Sunday’s game was the third-straight contest that a Husky player opened her 2010 scoring account. Casie Fields lit the lamp for her first time this season. Maggie Brennolt and Dani Rylan each tallied their first goal of the season last weekend. The Huskies continued their stretch of disciplined play as they took just two penalties in Sunday’s game. NU has spent just six minutes in the sin bin during the last two games, as the Huskies visited the penalty box just once against St. Cloud State on Jan. 2.

Providence College: Friar Junior Goalie Genevieve Lacasse represented Canada at the MLP Cup, a six-team, Under-22 international tournament in Switzerland. Lacasse led the Canadians to their eighth cup in nine tries, winning both of her starts and stopping all 56 shots she faced…The Friars will host Hockey East’s Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer on Friday, January 21 when they welcome Boston College. The game will help benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.

University of Vermont: Vermont is 3-1-7 when scoring the first goal this season…Vermont is 3-1-1 in its last five games…Vermont went to overtime for the 10th time Saturday in 22 games this season…The Catamounts nine ties, leads the nation, and is a single season Vermont record … Senior captain Celeste Doucet leads the team in scoring with four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 22 games…Freshman goaltender Roxanne Douville won a gold medal Saturday with Canada’s National Women’s U22 Team at the MLP Four Nations Cup, Douville started two games posting two shutouts.
