Happily for investors, that line tilts profoundly upward. In the past five years, Bard’s stock has more than tripled.

Dueling tabloids make advertising gains he new york post and the New York Daily News continue to fight Ttheir vicious tabloid war. But they’re not doing so badly compared with papers across the nation, which are reeling from a precipitous drop in advertising. Through May of this year, advertising linage in the News jumped 4% over the same period last year, to 635,503 inches, according to TNS Media Intelligence. The Post’s was up 3%, to 325,997 inches. A spokeswoman for the News says the gains have been in the retail and national advertising categories. Post executives could not be reached for comment. According to TNS Media, which makes estimates based on official rate-card prices, ad revenue at the Post grew 17% to $124 million through May.The News’ ad revenue crept up 1%, to $206 million. “They have less real estate and help-wanted advertising than the typical newspaper,” says Edward Atorino, a media analyst at the Benchmark Co., explaining why the News and the Post haven’t suffered the way other papers have.
