The history of secret and ritualistic organizations has never received the attention that the subject deserves. Although their influence has been and continues to be considerable, they are viewed as having members who are enjoined to be tight- lipped about the activities. Despite the manifest differences between the branches of this fascinating group, their culture has a commonality whose consideration has been neglected, and the research problems they present for scholars have similarities. -
. . by the Lighthouse Beam . . . by the Lighthouse Beam
Worshipful Master Gary Mosmeyer - Editor John "Corky" Daut The November 2012 Issue . By The Lighthouse Beam Right Angles, Horizontals and Perpendiculars From Hiram's Lighthouse Newsletter It appears to me that there has been some confu- sion among Masons about the Lights in a Lodge, as relates to the Three Lesser Lights, The Three Great Lights, and The Three Lights, (of the lodge,) and also about the one light above the altar that is turned on when the Three Great Lights are displayed upon the Altar. I will attempt to shed some light on the questions about these lights as relates to a Lodge Room as well as to some of the other “Threes” we find in Freema- sonry. In Freemasonry, we are encouraged to tell our Brothers what we want, and that is Knowledge, in Freemasonry Light means Knowledge. So when we talk about the three Triads of lights that are in a Lodge the symbolism behind the lights is knowledge. The Three Lesser Lights and the Three Lights have often been confused, thinking that the Third Section of the Lecture of the First Degree stating that a Lodge has Three Lights which are situated in the East West and South refer to the Three Lesser Lights, which they do not. In the Webb-Preston work, which much of the ritual of the Grand Lodges of the United States is based it says; the Lights of the Lodge are three, situated in the East, West, and South. There is none in the North be- cause King Solomon’s Temple was situated so far north of the ecliptic that neither the Sun nor Moon at Me- ridian height could dart their rays into the north part of the building. -

Terry Melanson Albert Pike to Mazzini, August 15, 1871: Three World Wars?
5/3/12 Albert Pike to Mazzini, August 15, 1871: Three World Wars? | Terry Melanson Albert Pike to Mazzini, August 15, 1871: Three World Wars? - by Terry Melanson, Oct. 5th, 2010 Or, how Michael Haupt said, that William Guy Carr said, that Cardinal Caro y Rodriguez of Santiago, Chile said, that The Cause of World Unrest said, that the confessed hoaxer Gabriel Jogand-Pagès aka Dr. Bataille aka Leo Taxil said about Albert Pike and Giuseppe Mazzini in Le diable au XIXe siècle, v. II, 1894, p. 605 (but actually pp. 594-606). Got it? don’t derive any satisfaction from a debunking. I really I don’t. Discovering the truth is a reward in itself. Having a knack for getting to the bottom of a thing also helps with maintaining credibility. Historiography is among other things concerned with source criticism. And while I’m not an academically trained historian, I am quite aware that one should strive to consult the primary source as opposed to relying on the word of secondary or even tertiary accounts. The matter at hand deals with an alleged “three world war” prediction from famed Mason, Scottish Rite Sovereign Grand Commander Albert Pike. William Guy Carr was the key purveyor of the tale which, to me, was suspicious at the least. Off and on I’ve been working at it. And I’ve finally cracked the case. The “Three World Wars” website and Carr Let’s begin with the modern populariser of the Pike/Mazzini, 1871 “letter.” In 2003, an Englishman by the name of Michael Haupt [fig 1] launched [fig 2] his website threeworldwars.com in response to Jihadist terrorism and the American invasion of Iraq. -

Eye of Provide Eye of Providence Eye of Providence
Eye of Providence The Trinity represented in a Christian version of the Eye of Providence . The Eye of Providence (or the all-seeing eye of God) is a symbol showing an eye often surrounded by rays of light or a glory and usually enclosed by a triangle . It is sometimes interpreted as representing the eye of God watching over humankind (or divine providence ). In the modern era, the most notable depiction o f the eye is the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States , which appears on the United States one-dollar bill . Contents 1 Religious use 2 United States 3 Freemasonry 4 Other uses : 4.1 Coats of arms and seals 4.2 Currency 4.3 Other contexts Religious use Jacopo Pontormo painting year 1525, using the Eye of Providence in a triangle as a symbol of the Christian Trinity . Imagery of an all-seeing eye can be traced back to Egyptian mythology and the Eye of Horus . Buddhist texts like the Mahaparinibbana Sutta also refer to Buddha as the "Eye of the World" (although no imagery is used). It is frequently used to depict the image of God in Caodaism (the doctrines of an Indochinese religion, especially an amalgamation of features from Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Christianity .) In Medieval and Renaissance European iconography, the Eye (often with the addition of an enclosing triangle) was an explicit image of the C hristian Trinity . Seventeenth-century depictions of the Eye of Providence sometimes show it surrounded by clouds or sunbursts . In United States 1782, the Eye of Providence was adopted as part of the symbolism on the reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States . -
The Three Great Lights
The Three Great Lights By WBro. Wayne Spring Beacon Court Lodge 1967 – IPM and Lodge Mentor Pentangle Lodge 1174 - JD East Kent Masters Lodge 3931 - Steward Norman Chapter 3502 – Principal Sojourner Word count: 1,540 THE THREE GREAT LIGHTS The Three Great Lights the fundamental objects in Freemasonry. To the uninitiated this bears no meaning; to a brother a way of life. Their importance is highlighted when the Worshipful Master directs attention to the Three Great Lights in Freemasonry, the VSL, The Square and the Compasses. The most important of these is the Volume of the Sacred Law1,2 an indispensable part of the Lodge. The open Bible signifies that we should regulate our conduct according to it. The teachings are to rule and guide our faith, a symbol of man's acknowledgment of his relationship to Deity. Upon the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England, the first ‘Constitution’ detailed the important relationship in the ‘Aims and Relations of the Craft’3. Without familiarisation to the BoC4, a brother understands the importance of the VSL from the ritual. A newly made brother is not presented a copy of the BoC until the end of the initiation degree. During the ceremony he will be informed that “It teaches us the important duties we owe to God, to our neighbour and to ourselves.5” The candidate is informed that it is the unerring standard of Truth and Justice and that it is to rule and govern our faith. 1 Hereinafter referred to as the VSL. 2 No matter what religion 3 The first condition of admission into, and membership of, the Order is belief in the Supreme Being; the Bible, the Volume of the Sacred Law, is always open in Lodges. -

Passione, PM The United Grand Lodge of England (“UGLE”), and current Freemasons’ Hall, is located on Great Queen Street in the heart of London. A Masonic hall, in one form or another, has stood in this location since 1775, and the current Freemasons’ Hall was constructed in 1933. Incredibly, the building escaped the bombings of World War II virtually unscathed. Freemasons’ Hall is not only home to more than 20 functional lodge rooms, including the stunning Grand Temple (or Grand Lodge) room, but also a Masonic library and museum of Freemasonry. The museum has recently been redesigned to highlight Freemasonry through the ages, specifically within the 300 years since the establishment of the original Grand Lodge of England. United Grand Lodge of England, 60 Great Queen Street, London, UK The Grand Lodge of England, which recently celebrated its tercentenary, was originally established in 1717; and in 1723, published the first “Constitutions of the Free-Masons.” Around 1751, a divide occurred between the membership and the Grand Lodge split into two separate Grand Lodges; the Grand Lodge of England (also known as the Moderns) and the Ancient Grand Lodge (also known as the Ancients). The divide 1 between the Moderns and the Ancients stemmed from disagreements over the nature of the Masonic ritual1, where the Moderns sought to modernize the ritual and place less focus on ritual overall. -
