The wine route of Dionysus The Wine Route of Northern Greece that bears the name of the carefree God Dionysus begins at the Mt Pangeo. It runs through Kavala and Drama and winds through the jewel-like moun- tain villages and the beautiful river banks of Lake Kerkini, before going east to Thrace, with its wild natural beauties and many hidden treasures. Mt Pangeo is a must. It is sometimes called the golden mountain since in antiquity famous gold and silver mines were located there.
