Larsen & F. Vilhelmsen: Records ofMicrolepidoptera from Denmark in 2003 (Lepidoptera). Ent. Meddr. 72: 33-46. Copenhagen, Denmark, 2004. ISSN 0013-8851. This artide reports on interesting Danish Microlepidoptera collected in 2003, and comments on remarkable tindings from previous years. The classification and nomenelature follow the Danish catalogue (Karsholt & Stade! Nielsen, 1998), which is basedon the European checklist (Karsholt & Razowski (eds), 1996). Seven species are reported as new to the Danish fauna: l) Agonopterix multi plicella (Erschoff, 1877) (Depressariidae). One specimen was caught in a light trap in the is1and ofBornho1m. 2) Eupoecilia cebrana (Hubner, 1813) (Tortrici dae). One specimen was caught flying in the afternoon around the host plant in the island of Bornholm. 3) Acleris stellinensis Leraut, 2003 (Tortricidae). The species is similar to A. emargana, but i t has more brownish forewings with two rows of raised black scales across the wing. The form with yellow ground colour is less contrasting than ernargana and much rarer. The species is wide spread in Denmark, but more local than ernargana. It feeds on Salix pentandra bet:ween rolled leaves. It is full-grown at the end ofJune or beginning ofJuly. The colour of the larva is bluish green. The distribution is north European. 4) Endothenia pullana (Haworth, 1811) (Tortricidae). One specimen was caught in late afternoon sunshine in the is land of Bornholm. In la te September a few larvae were found at the same locality in stems of Stachys palustris.

Lost life: England’s lost and threatened species www.naturalengland.org.uk Lost life: England’s lost and threatened species Contents Foreword 1 Executive summary 2 Introduction 5 England’s natural treasures 7 From first life to the Industrial Revolution 12 Scale of loss to the present day 15 Regional losses 24 Threatened species 26 Our concerns for the future 36 Turning the tide 44 Conclusions and priorities for action 49 Acknowledgements 52 England’s lost species This panel lists all those species known to have been lost from England in recent history. Species are arranged alphabetically by taxonomic group, then by scientific name. The common name, where one exists, is given in brackets, followed by the date or approximate date of loss – if date is known. Dates preceded by a ‘c’ are approximate. Foreword No one knows exactly when the last Ivell’s sea anemone died. Its final known site in the world was a small brackish lagoon near Chichester on the south coast of England. When the last individual at this site died, probably in the 1980s, the species was lost forever: a global extinction event, in England, on our watch. We live in a small country blessed with a rich variety of wildlife – one in which the natural world is widely appreciated, and studied as intensely as anywhere in the world. Today this variety of life is under pressure from human activities as never before. As a result, many of our native species, from the iconic red squirrel to the much less familiar bearded stonewort, are in a fight for survival.

Summary: Two species of small moths, Digitivalva pulicaria (Klimesch , 1956) and Digiti valva reticulella (Hübner , 1796) which are rare in Germany, are recorded for our working area. D. cariosella (Treitschke , 1835) Tafel V, Abb.

  • Checklist of Lithuanian Diptera
58 BULLETIN OF THE LITHUANIAN ENTOMOLOGICAL SOCIETY. Volume 1 (29) DATA ON 2 NEW AND 113 RARE FOR THE LITHUANIAN FAUNA MOTH (LEPIDOPTERA) SPECIES BRIGITA PAULAVIČIŪTĖ, VITALIJUS BAČIANSKAS, VYTAUTAS INOKAITIS Kaunas T. Ivanauskas Zoological Museum, Laisvės al. 106, LT-44253, Kaunas, Lithuania. E-mail of corresponding author: [email protected] Introduction Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) are one of the most diverse and species-rich groups of organisms. Currently, the number of described species is close to 160000, but it is estimated that the true number of species could be as high as half a million (van Nieukerken et al., 2011). The Lepidoptera in Lithuania are not comprehensively investigated. The last catalogue of Lithuanian Lepidoptera includes 2423 species (Aarvik et al., 2017). This article presents data on 2 new (Digitivalva reticulella and Caryocolum proxima) and 113 rare for the Lithuanian fauna species of moths (Lepidoptera) registered in 23 administrative districts and municipalities of Lithuania. Material and Methods The material was collected by the authors of this report Brigita Paulavičiūtė (B.P.), Vitalijus Bačianskas (V.B.) and Vytautas Inokaitis (V.I.). The rest of the species were collected by S. Claaszen (S.C.), Romas Ferenca (R.F.), Vytautas Tamutis (V.T.) and Vytautas Uselis (V.U). Moths were collected using an entomological net and light trapping at night (160W– 500W DRL type bulb lamps were used) in different parts of Lithuania. The geographical coordinates were measured using Garmin eTrex GPS receiver. Species were identified using the following sources: Hannemann (1964), Traugott- Olsen & Nielsen, (1977), Zaguliaev et al. (1978), Danilevskij et al.

  • Glos Species of Conservation Concern
Gloucestershire Key Wildlife Sites Handbook Part 3: Appendices Appendix 3 – Species of conservation concern in Gloucestershire This Appendix contains the reference species lists for use when assessing the minimum thresholds for selecting KWS on species grounds. General thresholds for different categories of species conservation status are detailed in Part 2 of the KWS Handbook, Section 2.6. Key species groups such at bats, amphibians and butterflies also have an accompanying rationale for site selection, provided by the relevant expert County Recorders. “Schedule” in the Status column of the species lists refers to schedules of The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (and subsequent amendments) unless otherwise stated. IUCN Red List refers to the IUCN Global Red List; National Red List is the national listing based on IUCN criteria but applied regionally rather than globally. A longer summary of the legislation and designation categories relating to species status is listed in Appendix 4 . The relevant threshold from the Species Criteria in Section 2.6 is included next to each species list, or individual species entry where applicable. Please note that these tables will be subject to regular updates as and when the status of species is reviewed, and that some species may occasionally be added to, or removed from, the lists. Species assemblage indices may also change from time to time. Please check that you have the latest version of Appendix 3 before assessing a site for KWS selection! If in doubt, a master list of all UK conservation designations is available from the JNCC website here: http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-3408.
