Scenario and Campaign Lists - Introduction Campaign Marengo Scenario and Campaign Lists - Introduction List Comments The scenario list for Campaign Marengo includes over 120 scenarios that are in the main folder. It does not list the campaign scearnios, many of which are good stand alone situations in their own right. The campaigns have their own listing. The players should note that the scenario file name lists whether a scenario is HTH - Head to Head or SOLO - meaning that it has AI scripts and can be played against the program. There were several HTH scenarios in the game which because of their complexity do not have a Solo counterpart. Others were simplified to allow for a more balanced situation when converted to a Solo setting. Three design scenarios are included for Scenarios Designers to use as well as those that would like to see all of the uniforms for the soldiers for this time period. They show the layout of the images that are part of the game. Key to the Scenario List Each scenario has a filename, scenario name and amount of turns on each line. Filename - has a number, the name of the action/battle and whether it is a Head to Head (HTH) or Solo (SOLO) scenario. If the scenario is a variant then the letter V followed by a number is listed after the name of the action/battle. Examples: Filename Explanation 012_Dego_SOLO.scn Scenario #012 - action is Dego - Solo version of the scenario 009_Dego_V1_HTH.scn Scenario #009 - action is Dego - Variant #1 - Head to Head version Title - the title of the scenario as listed in the Scenario Header. 005. Montenotte: Napoleon's First Victory in Italy Number of turns - a number indicating how many turns the scenario lasts. 24 Campaign Marengo Scenario List Filename Title Turns 000_Getting_Started.scn 000. ABSTRACT The history of the British Army in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars is generally associated with stories of British military victory and the campaigns of the Duke of Wellington. An intrinsic aspect of the historiography is the argument that, following British defeat in the Low Countries in 1795, the Army was transformed by the military reforms of His Royal Highness, Frederick Duke of York. This thesis provides a critical appraisal of the reform process with reference to the organisation, structure, ethos and learning capabilities of the British Army and evaluates the impact of the reforms upon British military performance in the Low Countries, in the period 1793 to 1814, via a series of narrative reconstructions. This thesis directly challenges the transformation argument and provides a re-evaluation of British military competency in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

We might say that they grew all the more attached to their Italian origins as they moved further and further away from them, becoming ever more deeply integrated into Corsican society through marriages. This was as true of the Buonapartes as of anyone else related to the Genoese and Tuscan nobilities by virtue of titles that were, to tell the truth, suspect. The Buonapartes were also the relatives, by marriage and by birth, of the Pietrasentas, Costas, Paraviccinis, and Bonellis, all Corsican families of the interior. Napoleon was born there on 15 August , their fourth child and third son. A boy and girl were born first but died in infancy. Napoleon was baptised as a Catholic. Napoleon was born the same year the Republic of Genoa ceded Corsica to France. His father was an attorney who went on to be named Corsica's representative to the court of Louis XVI in The dominant influence of Napoleon's childhood was his mother, whose firm discipline restrained a rambunctious child. Napoleon's noble, moderately affluent background afforded him greater opportunities to study than were available to a typical Corsican of the time. When he turned 9 years old, [18] [19] he moved to the French mainland and enrolled at a religious school in Autun in January Napoleon was routinely bullied by his peers for his accent, birthplace, short stature, mannerisms and inability to speak French quickly.

  • Maggio Mese Dell'asparago

UNIT :1 I.FRENCH REVOLUTION Dr. P. Suresh, Ph.D., The French Revolution In 1789, in the wake of early morning, the city of Paris was in a state of alarm. Rumours spread that the King would open fire upon the citizens. People started gathering and they started breaking a number of government buildings in search of arms. The commander of the Bastille was killed in the armed fight and the prisoners were released. People hated the Bastille as it stood for the despotic power of the king. People protested against the high price of bread. A new chain of events began which led to the execution of the King in France. French Society During the Late Eighteenth Century Louis XVI, in 1774, ascended the throne of France. Financial France was drained because of the war. France, Under Louis XVI, helped the thirteen American colonies to gain their independence from Britain. Taxes were increased to meet regular expenses, such as the cost of maintaining an army, the court, running government offices or universities. The country of France was divided into three estates in the eighteenth century. The feudal system was part of the society estates dated back to the middle ages. 90 percent of the population was dominated by peasants but only a small number of them owned the land they cultivated. 60 percent was owned by nobles, the Church and other richer members of the third estate. The clergy and the nobility, members of the first two estates enjoyed certain privileges by birth. These groups of members were exempted from paying taxes and enjoyed feudal privileges.

Prof., School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), Baridhara, Dhaka, Bangladesh Abstract Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), also known as Napoleon I, was a French military leader and emperor who conquered much of Europe in the early 19th century. Born on the island of Corsica, Napoleon rapidly rose through the ranks of the military during the French Revolution (1789-1799). After seizing political power in France in a 1799 coup d’état, he crowned himself emperor in 1804. Shrewd, ambitious and a skilled military strategist, Napoleon successfully waged war against various coalitions of European nations and expanded his empire. However, after a disastrous French invasion of Russia in 1812, Napoleon abdicated the throne two years later and was exiled to the island of Elba. In 1815, he briefly returned to power in his Hundred Days campaign. After a crushing defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, he abdicated once again and was exiled to the remote island of Saint Helena, where he died at 51.Napoleon was responsible for spreading the values of the French Revolution to other countries, especially in legal reform and the abolition of serfdom. After the fall of Napoleon, not only was the Napoleonic Code retained by conquered countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, parts of Italy and Germany, but has been used as the basis of certain parts of law outside Europe including the Dominican Republic, the US state of Louisiana and the Canadian province of Quebec.
