Growing up in the rural and segregated South, my grandfather did not have many opportunities. However, he still would dress as though he was CEO of his own Fortune 500 Company. On Sundays, before mass, he would put on his best suit and cologne because it was important to always look like a gentleman.     D8 4-H CLOTHING & TEXTILES EVENTS General Rules & Guidelines OVERVIEW The 4-H Fashion Show is designed to recognize 4-H members who have completed a Clothing and Textiles project. The following objectives are taught in the Clothing and Textiles project: knowledge of fibers and fabrics, wardrobe selection, clothing construction, comparison shopping, fashion interpretation, understanding of style, good grooming, poise in front of others, and personal presentation skills. PURPOSE The Fashion Show provides an opportunity for 4-H members to exhibit the skills learned in their project work. It also provides members an opportunity to increase their personal presentation skills. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 1. Membership. Participants must be 4-H members currently enrolled in a Texas 4-H and Youth Development county program and actively participating in the Clothing & Textiles project. 2. Age Divisions. Age divisions are determined by a participant’s grade as of August 31, 2015 as follows: Division Grades Junior 3*, 4, or 5 *Must be at least 8 years old Intermediate 6, 7, or 8 Senior 9, 10, 11, or 12* *Must not be older than 18 years old 3. Events. She has also paired her dress with a sparkly necklace and earrings as well as matching silver sparkly heels and a corsage made by her Grandma. Looking good Tamara! 3 Brooklyn Hahn Faith from Reno County knew that the wide ombre plaid she choose for this dress would need a limited amount of seems to get everything to match so she combined 2 different patterns to get the look she wanted. She used one pattern to create the bodice and a second pattern for the skirt.

While much criticism has focused on Lister’s place in queer history, comparatively little has examined her writing itself. Thus, this thesis aims to place Lister’s writings within popular Romantic genres and in conversation with other Romantic writers. Chapter I is an introduction to Anne Lister and the scholarship that has surrounded her since the first collection of her diaries was published in the 1980s and establishes the arguments that will be made in each chapter. In Chapter II, I examine how Lister uses Romantic works and their writers to construct her own personal identity despite her lack of participation in either the written tradition or in the major social movements of the period during her lifetime.

Curves Ahead Pencil Skirt from the Jenny Pattern from Burda Style is that the back had a slit and not a vent or kick pleat. I have strong feelings about slits. Slits, for skirts, belong in the front along one leg, if they belong anywhere at all. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it. I really feel that adding a back vent or even a kick pleat (kick pleats are closed back vents) adds real value and durability to a garment. Slits are much more likely to tear or distort over time from wear. You might also be surprised that though this little tutorial brings your skirt up a notch, its very easy to do. Weird huh? Usually things that look better on garments are much harder to do. I mean don’t you find it a relief to know that this is easy peasy? Come now, let’s cheer! OK enough silliness, down to brass tacks. So, this is a tutorial for a pencil skirt that has a slit that you want to convert to a back vent (or front vent, or side or whatever). From a Louis Vuitton and Supreme collaboration to Gucci’s support of Harlem designer Dapper Dan’s store reopening, the fashion industry welcomed Black culture into the highest echelons of high fashion. Rapper Cardi B became the darling of New York Fashion Week in September after being rejected by designers throughout most of her career. Marc Jacobs traded the runway for the street, staging a show that included bucket hats, oversized jackets, and loads of corduroy on a large number of models of color. But while the industry appeared to diversify by acknowledging the indomitable force of hip-hop culture, it truly didn’t. The politics of hip-hop and Black culture were left out of the conversation and the players behind-the-scenes remained a homogeneous mass of privileged white Westerners. Nearly every high fashion brand this year capitalized on streetwear— a style of clothing born out of hip-hop culture in marginalized neighborhoods of New York City and Los Angeles, and none recognized the historical, cultural, and political heritage that made streetwear a worldwide phenomenon, symbolizing power and cool.
