DAY 5: VISIT TO THE DR RADHAKRISHNAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The delegates visited the Dr Radhakrishnan International School, where Indian culture was showcased through various performances like those of Bhangra and Dandia. The electric atmosphere forced teachers and delegates alike to sway to the tunes of Indian folk music. The delegates were also presented with the opportunity to engage in cultural activities such as kite flying and pottery. Other activities included Delegates at Dr Radhakrishnan camel ride, elephant ride and astrology. International School DAY 5:ENGLISH PLAY ‘GOD’ A play named ‘The God’ and written by Woody Allen was staged for the delegates. The modern day theatre ridiculed blind religiousness and in the garb of humour, conveyed the message that we should not worry about the end, for we can never decide our own fate. Post this, the guest schools practiced for the cultural night performances that were to be held the next day.

Cast of the play with Principal Dr Vijay Datta DAY 6: SIGHTSEEING On 8th of December 2017 the delegates were taken for a Delhi sightseeing tour. The trip began with a visit to The Humayun’s Tomb .The first glimpse of the excellent Persian architecture left all the delegates spellbound. The delegates immediately started scaling the walls of Arab Sarai and started exploring the haunted corners of the tomb. Page 2 ISSUE 101 25th December to 31st December 2017

DAY 6: DELHI SIGHTSEEING The visit to Lodi garden was followed by a spirit of adventure. The delegates were astounded by seeing the various species of trees, a Rose garden and a green house. They came across the tomb of Muhammad Shah called the Bara Gumbad. As the cameras clicked incessantly the delegates whispered their secrets to the promising to be back soon. Next was the trip to . The delegates became excited as they reached one of the oldest in the city. As they entered the monument they could see a flight of 108 steep steps leading down to the well. All the students were awe struck by seeing the intricate designs and the beautiful architecture of the monument .

Delegates with Ms Beeba Sobti at The Humayun’s Tomb DAY 6 : CULTURAL EXHIBITION AND STALLS At the cultural night all the countries had setup stalls that showcased their culture, traditional handicrafts and other specialties. All delegates exchanged souvenirs strengthening a bond that extended beyond cultural identities. Each country stood proud of its uniqueness, while still being a part of a connected world. Following this was the cultural performances by the delegates of all countries. Everyone gathered together to dance and sing . The Germans performed a skit while the South Africans brought the house down with their tap dance. Traditional dances and folk songs from Russia just added to the extravaganza. DAY 6 : VALEDICTORY FUNCTION To culminate the event a valedictory function was held on the same evening.Shahnaz Husain and Salman Khurshid were the chief guests on the occasion and delivered a valedictory address on how these summits are helpful and important for the students. Reflections of the summit were presented by the delegates. A photo album and Valedictory Performance the CDLS brochure were released. The evening ended with a finale where modern school students along with the delegates danced on a Hindi song. Indian delicacies were served for dinner and finally with heavy hearts the delegates left their hosts leaving with them lots of loving memories.

SPORTS FRONT By Himantica Aneja FOOTBALL Tanvi Sikka, Saumya Maitra, Nandini Lohani, Niharika Prakash represented the Delhi Team in the Under 17 Girls category in the Sub Junior National Championship held at Odisha from 23rd November to 2nd December 2017.

SHOOTING Sachin Singh won a Gold Medal in the CBSE Shooting Nationals held at from 14th November to 17th November 2017. He also represented the Delhi Team in the Under 19 Boys category in the SGFI Shooting Nationals held at Pune from 17th November to 5th December 2017.

SQUASH Brahamputra Squash Open was held at Guwahati from 15th November to 20th November 2017 in which Gautam Nagpal won a Silver Medal in the Under 19 Boys category and Tejas Chawla won a Bronze Medal in the Under 17 Boys category.

TENNIS Akhilinder Singh won a Gold Medal in the Under 17 Boys category at the Inter Zonal Tennis Tournament held at Thyagraj Stadium from 16th November to 17th November 2017.

YOGA Verdaan Jain and Shivangi Menon represented the Delhi Team in the Under 19 Boys and Under 19 Girls category respectively at the CBSE Yoga Nationals held at Mamta Modern School Vikas Puri from 23rd November to 26th November 2017.

TABLE TENNIS Tamanna Gulshan and Mannika Kesar won a Gold Medal in the Under 14 Girls category at the Inter Zonal Table Tennis Competition held at Thyagraj Stadium Delhi on 26th November 2017.

GYMNASTICS Vidhu Goyal and Aishani Katyal represented the Delhi Team in the Under 19 Boys and Under 17 Girls category respectively in the SGFI Gymnastics Nationals held at Kolkata from 14th November to 18th November 2017.
