One Doll, Two Dolls, Three Dolls More
In the past hundred years there have been many different types of dolls, made of different materials. There have been china-headed dolls, wooden dolls, dolls with rubber skin that feels like a real baby, dolls that wet their pants, dolls that eat, and even dolls that walk and talk, or play music.
Can you remember the first doll that you ever owned or played with as a child? What was it made of? Did you have a name for your doll? Why was that doll your favorite? (Encourage the girls to share their thoughts or even their dolls.)
Where do dolls come from? Plan a field trip to your local library to do research on the history of dolls. Where and when did they originate? What did they look like? Who made them? What were they made of? Who owned them? Have the girls keep a notebook of what they learned, filled with information and photos that they found through their research. When you return to the corps, have the girls decorate their notebook and share it with the other girls.
Let’s go see some pretty dolls… For one of your times together research the internet to find a local doll show that your group can attend so they can see the various types of dolls. Have each girl choose their favorite doll and explain why they liked it in their notebook. They can draw the doll, or if you have a digital camera, take that with you and snap pictures for the girls to refer back to.
It’s a party… Invite family and friends to a Doll Tea Party Copy the attached invitation and have the girls fill them out and deliver them to their guests. Ask your Women’s Ministries group to bake goodies for the event. Decorate the location with all kinds of dolls, especially the girls’ personal favorites. While at the party the girls and guests can make and decorate the paper dolls (also attached). Do the crossword puzzle (also attached). Come visit us… 1 See if there is a local doll club in your area and invite someone from the club to attend one of your meetings and give a presentation on the dolls their club has collected m and the history of each one. Have the girls write an entry in their notebooks regarding what they’ve learned and about their favorite doll in the collection

May I introduce you to ______my Cabbage patch Kids.
Let me first share with you the history of the Cabbage Patch Kids (Can be found on boxes that they arrive in). Many years ago, a young man, named Xavier, happened upon an enchanted cabbage patch were he found very special little people called Cabbage Patch Kids. To help fulfill the Cabbage Patch Kids' dreams of having families with whom to share their love, Xavier set about building a special place known as Babyland General, where the kids remained until each is chosen for adoption.
Scripture Reading: Romans 8: 15 - Just as each doll is adopted by a little girl, so we are also adopted into God's family when we are born again, and we become children of God. "For you did not receive a Spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father"
So can you wonder why it is we love Him so.
Sing Chorus 211 "Can You Wonder"
Each of the Cabbage Kids come with their own set of adoption papers, which includes the name, date of birth and name of the new parent. When we are adopted into God's family, our name is also written down in the Lamb's Book of Life.
"Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lambs book of life". Rev. 21:27
Some of the children decide that they don't like the name that comes with their doll so they change it. This is also true in real adoptions. It is legal to change the name of a little child or children you adopt. The Bible tells us that we too will receive a new name when we enter heaven.
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it." Rev. 2:17
When a child is adopted into a family, that child becomes a son or daughter, and becomes an heir 2 to whatever the family owns. Unfortunately, all that child can inherit is temporary. One day everything upon this earth will pass away. There is only one treasure that is truly secure and forever and that is God's Kingdom. So when we are adopted into the family of God, we become heirs to something that is eternal.
"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, co-heirs - heirs of God and co~heirs with Christ, If indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory." Romans 8:16
"Do not store up your treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and were thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and were thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-20
What will we inherit as God's children?
John 14:23 a mansion Revelations 2:10 a crown John 3:16 eternal life
There are many different types of Cabbage Patch Kids (Real Babies) on the market some are authentic and some are fakes. In spite of all the copies that are made there is only one true Cabbage Patch Kid, one original. You can tell the real thing by the stamp on the dolls bottom. Without this official stamp we will know that it is just a fake ... a copy of the original.
There are many people who lead a good life. They are good, kind, loving, helpful, and generous people, but if they lack the one thing that will mark them as a child of god, they will never be able to enter the Kingdom of God.
"Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again". John 3:5-6
We must be born again an accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior from sin.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." 1 John 4:7
"No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us. We know that we live in him and He in us because He has given us of His Spirit.” 1 John 4:12
Let us show God's love in our lives that we will be marked as His true children, children that have been adopted into the kingdom of God. We can then teach others the Love of God, that they also might find adoption through Christ.
